Was called into action early, standing tall to Cabaye and tipping a long-range volley wide, but was left exposed and easily beaten by Remy. Made one stop from Sissoko in the second half but otherwise a spectator.
Had plenty of space to attack but rarely did so in the first half. Not his finest display, although he did improve as the game wore on. Just too slow with his decision-making.
Turned with consummate ease by Remy not once but twice, with the second occasion leading to the goal. Not in good form and surprising that he's still first-choice centre-back. Booked for a dreadful tackle on Sissoko.
Stylish centre-back with a love of driving forward but caught out frequently with balls behind. Ended the first half with what looked like a broken nose and was replaced by Kaboul.
Plays the frustrated left-back role very well, constantly gesticulating to those around him to give him the ball. Had one effort from range that was easily saved and couldn't reproduce his display at Everton last week, although he did hit the bar with a header.
Broke well from midfield and saw a curling effort tipped over by Krul. Didn't pass as well as he can but continued to try and supply an extra body in the box. Almost had his reward but was denied by Krul
Delivered a couple of sublime crosses for Soldado. The first was missed as it flew across the six-yard box, the second met well but saved. From there his set piece delivery fell off a cliff and he became a much more peripheral figure, eventually looking disinterested and woefully short of confidence.
Was on the end of a powerful challenge by Tiote and struggled from there. Gave the ball away and far too cautious with possession. Off at half time for Sandro.
Frequently covered by two or three Newcastle defenders and far too predictable throughout. Did have more joy second half as he drifted in behind Santon and almost assisted Sigurdsson but was largely wasteful.
Struggled to impact the game but had a magnificent chance early in the second period, only to be denied from 10 yards by the boot of Krul. Then saw his deflected free-kick brilliantly saved. Subbed for Defoe.
Began brightly, linking well with midfield and holding the ball up. Had the game's first chance, heading a corner just over before watching Krul magnificently tipping his second header round the post. Wasted another close-range chance heading at Krul.
With the sun in his eyes the Dutchman made too fine first half saves, tipping Soldado's header wide and Paulinho's curling effort over. Saved his best for the second 45, first denying Sigurdsson from 10 yards with an outstretched boot before reacting incredibly to stop the Icelandic midfielder's deflected free kick and Kaboul's follow up. Made a number of other notable stops as Spurs piled forward and undoubtedly man of the match.
Booked for a rash tackle on Paulinho but did well to stifle Sigurdsson and Vertonghen and later Eriksen.
Was comfortable up against Townsend, who frequently cut inside onto the Italian's favoured foot. Had more difficulty in the second half as Spurs probed in behind him.
Stuck tight to Soldado but was a little clumsy, conceding a couple of particularly cheap free-kicks. Superbly covered Krul by preventing Kaboul tucking home, flicking the ball away for a corner from a couple of yards out.
Strong display at the back, rarely putting a foot wrong. Tidied up well when required, though he was thankful for Krul's excellent performance.
Played the pass that split the Tottenham defence for the opener after winning back possession and was enthusiastic throughout. Taken off late for Obertan.
Powerful threat on the break, particularly playing off the right. Was booked for a clever foul and drew Friedel into a good near-post save.
Captained Newcastle and looked to set the tone, thudding into Dembele inside the first 10 minutes. Competed very well and looked like the Tiote of old in the heart of the action.
Crept behind a sleepy Tottenham defence to draw Friedel into a save. Otherwise passed well and got stuck into the Spurs midfield. Worked well in tandem with Tiote.
Saw a carbon copy of the Remy goal ruled out for offside but worked hard alongside Remy, often holding the ball up for his midfield. Replaced by Anita with 30 to play.
Had a fine chance but was too slow to get the shot away when in on goal but made amends minutes later, rounding Friedel to open the scoring. Led the line impressively, always looking for the ball and bringing others into play.
Replaced the injured Chiriches at the break and should have drawn Spurs level. His prod at goal from inside the six-yard box was brilliantly saved by Krul though. Easily the best centre-back at Spurs and if fit should be starting every week.
Came on for Dembele and immediately set the tone, driving past two challenges and thumping one just wide of the far post. Tackled keenly and offered protection to counterattacks.
Came on for Sigurdsson with 20 minutes to go and had four touches. To be fair those should have led to a goal were it not for Krul.
