The Malaysia Super League champions travel to the Turtles in search of a fourth away victory of the season, with Baihakki Khaizan set to make his debut after rejoining the side
Currently eighth in the MSL table after 14 games, the LionsXII lie four places behind their hosts but victory will allow them to overhaul the latter on points.
The Turtles have not won any of their last five matches, with two of those being losses, while they have also never beaten the LionsXII in their last five meetings. This could bode well for Fandi Ahmad's men, who should be raring to go after their dismal defeat to Selangor FA almost one month ago.
During that lengthy break, the reigning MSL champions travelled to Myanmar for a training trip, where they lost 1-0 to Nay Pyi Taw FC and 2-1 to the Myanmar national side. After they returned, friendly victories over Hougang United and Courts Young Lions, who fielded largely reserves, followed.
The focus of this game will undoubtedly be the return of Baihakki Khaizan, who should make his debut after rejoining the side following the mutual termination of his Johor Darul Takzim contract. While the move has split opinions, there is no doubt that the Singapore international's experience will boost the young side.
This will also allow for Safuwan Baharudin to be pushed forward in a more advanced role, where the 22-year-old looks set to be given a slot behind lone striker Khairul Amri. Faris Ramli should keep his place on the flank and with Nazrul Nazari 50-50 due to a pulled hamstring, Gabriel Quak could get the nod on the opposite side.
There are some other concerns for Fandi, with Zulfahmi Arifin also doubtful as he continues to recover from a groin injury. Shahfiq Ghanii and Firdaus Kasman are also doubts with flu and food poisoning respectively.
Terengganu will look to strikers Mustapha Dabo and Javier Estupinan to lead the line, with the latter yet to score after arriving in the mid-season transfer window. Nor Farhan Muhamad and Zairo Anuar will support him, with the former having notched three goals and five assists.
On paper, this is not the most difficult of assignments for the LionsXII despite Terengganu's seemingly lofty position, but they will do well to recall that the same opponents held them to a 0-0 draw in the previous encounter at Jalan Besar Stadium.
