  • Thanks for joining us this afternoon, make sure to stick with Goal for all the action and reaction to all of this weekend's matches.
  • Stoke have their first win of the season after coming from a goal down to beat Premier League new-boys Crystal Palace 2-1. Chamakh put the visitors ahead with a neat goal but the forward won't be receiving much praise from his manager after a poor clearance and less-than-half-hearted tackle that lead to the Potters winner. Adam firstly but the hosts level, pouncing on the loose ball to finish well, before Shawcross got the better of the former Arsenal man to net the winner. On balance Hughes' men probably deserved their win, though the Londoners did look good in patches.
  • 90' + 4'
The referee blows the full-time whistle!
  • 90' + 3'
Stoke try and keep it in the corner but Palace win it back via a throw in. However they give the ball away and almost allow Pennant in.
  • 90' + 2'
The Potters come forward with Cameron Jerome but Williams gets back and forces it out for a corner.
  • 90' + 1'
Four minutes added on in Stoke.
  • 90'
A flowing Palace move ends with Begovic once more claiming the ball high after Moxey's cross from the left.
  • 88'
    Yellow Card Jonathan Walters
Walters gives away a needless foul with a late challenge on Dikgacoi. The ball is fired into the box but Begovic claims it with some dominance.
  • 86'
    Substitution Peter Crouch Cameron Jerome
  • 85'
Crouch and Nzonzi try to link up on the edge of the Palace box but the striker's return ball rolls through to Speroni. Nice idea though.
  • 84'
    Yellow Card Geoff Cameron
  • 83'
Jedinak hits it straight into the wall. That was a complete waste!
  • 82'
It's all gone a bit quiet at the Britannia, until Williams wins a Palace free-kik right on the edge of the area ...
  • 80'
Kagisho Dikgacoi finds Gayle with a fantastic cross-field ball, the Palace attacker attempts a first-time Van Basten-esque volley which goes harmlessly wide. Struck well, though.
  • 77'
Kevin Phillips gets his first sight of goal but drags the shot wide of the post.
  • 76'
    Substitution Jason Puncheon Kevin Phillips
  • 76'
POST! Nzonzi fires a vicious strike at goal but it comes back off the woodwork. What a hit!
  • 74'
    Substitution Charlie Adam Glenn Whelan
Off comes goalscorer Adam, who has been decent today. He does looks shattered though.
  • 72'
Palace substitute Williams shoots straight at Robert Huth when he has two, maybe three, men up with him in better positions.
  • 70'
    Substitution Matthew Etherington Jermaine Pennant
  • 70'
Shawcross finds himself in unfamiliar waters on the right wing and his cross is telling; it goes straight to a Palace jersey.
  • 68'
Jedinak shows some neat footwork inside the Stoke penalty box before the ball falls to Jonathan Williams, but his shot-cum-cross is cleared.
  • 65'
CHANCE! Puncheon races away down the other end and forces Begovic into a smart, low save after cutting inside onto his favoured left foot.
  • 64'
    Substitution Campaña Owen Garvan
  • 63'
    Substitution Marouane Chamakh Jonathan Williams
  • 62'
    Assist Robert Huth
  • 62'
    Goal Ryan Shawcross
GOOOOAAAAL! It's a quick-fire double as Shawcross gives Stoke the lead! Chamakh goes from hero to zero as his poor clearance fails to clear the danger, the striker then pulls out of a challenge inside the penalty area after a bit of a scrap, allowing the Potters defender to finish with ease.
  • 61'
It's definitely been coming, that Stoke goal, and the hosts will probably be favourites to go on and get the win from here as Adam fires a strike straight at the Palace keeper.
  • 58'
    Assist Jonathan Walters
  • 58'
    Goal Charlie Adam
GOOOAAAAL! 1-1! Adam levels things up against his former manager's side! Crouch does what he does best and wins the ball in the air, flicking it on to Walters who, in turn, helps it on to the midfielder in space inside the penalty area. The Scotland international is then left to tuck the ball away past Speroni.
  • 57'
Adam gives the ball away in front of his defence allowing Campana to run at goal. The Palace man is a bit isolated, though, and eventually Stoke crowd him out and clear their lines.
  • 55'
The hosts are starting to dominate in this second period. Palace, meanwhile, are struggling to keep the ball.
  • 53'
Walters sprints away from Delany on the right after a good ball over the top from Nzonzi, but he lashes the effort off-target.
  • 52'
The ball comes all the way out to Steven Nzonzi on the edge of the area but he slices the shot wide of the goal. Poor effort from him.
  • 51'
Etherington and Pieters are linking up very nicely on Stoke's left. They force Ward to make a fine challenge and concede a corner…
  • 49'
The Potters come forward again, this time down the right with Cameron, but his cross is blocked and ends up in Speroni's arms.
  • 47'
Stoke have started much livelier as, somehow, Crouch fails to connect properly with an Etherington corner. Any real contract and he'd have levelled it there.
  • 45'
    The second half is underway.
  • Palace lead 1-0 at the Britannia as we head into the half-time break. Holloway's men might have had a penalty when Etherington shoved Ward to the floor inside the Stoke 18-yard box, however they were eventually rewarded for some neat football just after the hour-hour mark when Chamakh capitalised on some woeful Potters defending. There was nothing woeful about the Moroccan's finish, though, the forward beating Begovic with a cool shot into the corner. Speroni acrobatically kept Crouch out seconds later, tipping his header onto the bar, but it's been the visitors who have had the better of the play since the goal.
  • 45' + 2'
The referee blows the half-time whistle.
  • 45'
Stoke defender Shawcross is penalised for a foul throw - that's just sloppy.
  • 43'
Pucheon now delivers one for the Eagles, but Shawcross heads it away.
  • 42'
Adam puts a free-kick into the Palace box but it eludes everyone and goes straight through to the keeper.
  • 40'
That goal has really given the visitors confidence, and they are very much on top at the moment. Stoke can't get hold of it.
  • 38'
Campana fires the resulting free-kick just over the bar, though I think Begovic had it covered.
  • 37'
    Yellow Card Ryan Shawcross
Shawcross goes into the book after a silly foul on Gayle - the centre-back is having a torrid time at the moment.
  • 35'
Chance! Dean Moxey gets forward and beats Ryan Shawcross far too easily, his shot then going millimetres wide of the post.
  • 33'
WHAT A SAVE! Speroni tips a fantastic Crouch header onto the bar after Adam's lovely cross.
  • 31'
    Assist Damien Delaney
  • 31'
    Goal Marouane Chamakh
GOOOAAAAL! Chamakh puts Palace ahead out of absolutely nowhere! This time it's Stoke who, uncharacteristically, can't clear their lines. The defence allows a long ball to bounce, letting the striker in behind, with the ex-Arsenal man then slotting it calmly past Begovic.
  • 31'
Palace fail to clear their lines again, with Delany gifting the ball to Walters, but the Stoke attacker's eventual cross goes straight behind.
  • 29'
We're back underway and Crouch seems okay to continue.
  • 27'
Crouch is down and receiving treatment after a clash of heads with Jedinak.
  • 25'
Mile Jedinak gets on the end of Campana's free-kick but his header is comfortable for Begovic. He did well just to win it against Stoke, mind.
  • 23'
Neat one-touch football from Palace ends with a poor cross from Chamakh, who should really be in the box not out wide.
  • 21'
Etherington finds Crouch with a lovely ball to the back post, after good work from Erik Pieters down the left, but the lanky striker heads over the bar. Big chance.
  • 19'
Palace right-back Joel Ward tumbles in the opposition box under pressure from Etherington after being found by a brilliant Campana ball, but the referee says no penalty. On second look, I'd say that's a debatable call.
  • 17'
Dwight Gayle receives the ball on the left flank and sprints away from the Potters defence, however his shot is very tame and Begovic saves it comfortably.
  • 14'
A perfectly timed challenge from Damien Delany halts Walters from running through one-on-one. If the defender had got that wrong he probably would have seen red, great tackle.
  • 12'
Matthew Etherington delivers three corners in a row in a good spell of pressure from the hosts, but no-one can get anything meaningful on the end of them. Palace need to clear there lines more convincingly here.
  • 9'
Another ball into the box from Stoke, this time from Geoff Cameron on the right, however Speroni collects it with ease.
  • 6'
Palace fail to clear the ball after a flick-on by Crouch - it falls to Adam in a decent position but his shot is straight at the keeper.
  • 5'
Adam fires a ball towards Peter Crouch who nods it down towards Walters but the Eagles Julian Speroni gets down quickly and gathers the losse ball.
  • 3'
Palace are pressing Stoke high up the pitch in the early stages, with Chamakh giving the hosts' centre-backs as little time on the ball as possible. Neither side have managed to get hold of the ball in midfield yet, though.
  • 1'
    And we're off.
  • A quick match fact for you before kick-off, which is moments away: Stoke beat Palace 4-1 in an FA Cup third-round replay last season. Let's see if they can reproduce that form this afternoon.
  • Potters keeper Asmir Begovic impressed during that match at Anfield, keeping the score at 1-0 with numerous fantastic saves. Will he be kept busy by the visiting attackers this afternoon? Holloway will be hoping on-loan winger Puncheon and summer signing from Arsenal Chamakh can threaten, handing both starts.
  • Now, penalties played a big part in both teams' last fixtures - Stoke's Jonathan Walters missing a late one against Liverpool, while Spurs' only goal in their win over the Eagles came from the spot. Will we see any more this afternoon?
  • So, Charlie Adam - who played under Palace manager Ian Holloway at Blackpool - starts in place of Glenn Whelan in Stoke's only change from the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, while Jason Puncheon, Marouane Chamakh and Jose Campana all come in for the visitors who lost by the same scoreline to Tottenham in their last outing.
  • And here's the Palace team: Speroni; Ward, Gabbidon, Delany, Moxey; Puncheon, Campana, Jedinak, Dikgacoi, Gayle; ChamakhSubs: Alexander, Ramage, Garvan, Williams, Phillips, Dobbie, Wilbraham
  • Here's how Stoke will line-up: Begovic; Cameron, Huth, Shawcross, Pieters; Walters, Nzonzi, Wilson, Adam, Etherington; CrouchSubs: Sorensen, Muniesa, Whelan, Pennant, Jones, Wilkinson, Jerome
  • Both sides are looking to get their first points of the season today, after the pair fell to 1-0 defeats in their opening fixtures, with the Potters probably most people's favourites to get the win in what is manager Mark Hughes' first competitive home game in charge.
