The Greens will be looking to close the gap at the top when they take on their Goan rivals...

Sporting Clube de Goa face Salgaocar FC in their penultimate game this season on Tuesday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa.

The Flaming Oranje are coming into the tie on the back of a poor performance against Churchill Brothers where they lacked their usual flair in attack.

Injuries have affected their fate this season as from being a title challenger, they are fighting to be in the top five.

Pratesh Shirodkar, Dawson Fernandes and Victorino Fernandes are on the treatment table.

Oscar Bruzon has often stated his priority at the start of the season has been a top five finish, and a win on Tuesday will consolidate their position on the fourth spot in even further.

"Although we are out of the title race, we want to finish as high as possible in the League and will be going all out for 3 points against Salgaocar. I am looking for a high performance from each and every one of my players in the game.

We need to first be strong in the defense and then build from there patiently, by creating more chances in the final third to attain success," said coach Oscar Bruzon.

On the other hand, Salgaocar have been absolutely magnificent in the second half of the season with five consecutive victories which was halted in their last two outings in Goa.

However a fantastic away victory over Pune FC in their last game has boosted their confidence going into the final two matches.

Dudu Omagbemi’s arrival in the winter transfer window has seen their fortunes change as the Nigerian has combined well with Darryl Duffy.

Salgaocar are four points behind league leaders Bengaluru FC and a win will close the gap to a point.

"We have to keep winning. We have to keep collecting the points and pile on the pressure on our rivals.

"This is a funny and crazy league. The matches have been very competitive and results have gone astray. We will have to wait and watch," said coach Derrick Pereira.

Karma Tsewang is likely to be handed a start as the midfielder seems to have recovered from a knee injury sustained last year.

The last meeting between the two Goan sides saw Sporting edge Salgaocar with a solitary goal from Ogba Kalu.

It will surely be an interesting battle between the two Goan giants as they slog it on the field to end their season positively.
