Fandi's boys lost their first encounter in the league this season but will be confident of claiming revenge back at their Jalan Besar fortress in the second round of the tournamentThe LionsXII will take on Pahang FA for the second time in five games in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Having already lost 1-0 in the first game of the season, Fandi Ahmad's charges will be keen to put things right back home in their fortress. The LionsXII had put up a credible performance at the Darul Makmur Stadium and were arguably unlucky not to have ended the game with a draw.
They come into this game on the back of two morale-boosting results - first, a last-gasp win over Selangor FA a week ago, which was followed by a spirited comeback from two goals down to force a draw at Johor Darul Takzim on Tuesday.
With two goals in his last two games, Fandi will look to Khairul Amri for more. Winger Faris Ramli has been in good form as well, while Nazrul Nazari did well after coming on as a substitute in Larkin. Shakir Hamzah will be replaced by Hafiz Sujad at left-back if he cannot recover in time, while Shahfiq Ghani could see action from the bench.
The Elephants have stumbled in the league since their opening win against the LionsXII, crashing to two successive 1-0 losses against Sime Darby and then Selangor. They also only scraped through on penalties against Perak FA to set up this tie with the LionsXII, who disposed of DRB-Hicom FC easily in contrast.
Matias Conti will hope to fare better than he did in previous outings as he leads the line for Pahang, with R. Gopinathan and Azidan Sarudi to provide the ammunition from midfield.
On home turf, the LionsXII will be expected to win and their current momentum stands them in good stead to do just that.
