Sarawak came out the happier side after the match as the Red Giants exposed an obvious crisis in their offensive department
Both sides went for the kill from the beginning of the game, but it was Sarawak that initially dictated proceedings. Azizan Baba was a masterclass in midfield and he almost opened the scoring for Sarawak on 15 minutes, only to see his shot sail wide of the post.
Minutes later, Selangor came very close with a brilliant free kick from Asraruddin Putra but his effort unfortunately, was denied by the crossbar. The Red Giants began to grow in stature as the match progressed with Amirulhadi Zainal pulling the strings impressively in midfield. However, the score remained tied going into half-time.
Following the break Selangor came out the brighter side, with skipper Amri Yahya testing Sarawak's Sani Anuar Kamsani with a cheeky lob from the halfway line, before Bunyamin Umar went close to giving the home side the lead with a powerful shot on 55 minutes.
By this time, the home side were clearly desperate to score as they pushed forward more. Amirulhadi missed yet another chance with twenty minutes of play left and it seemed like one of those days when nothing was going to go their way for Selangor.
Sarawak could have snatched the winner with a Yosri Derma Raju freekick in the 75th minute but the match ended goalless as Selangor continued their disappointing start to the season.
