The keeper made a few decent saves to keep the score at 1-1 before Ramos netted a late winner. He should perhaps have done better to keep out Messi in the first half as he was beaten at his near post.
He allowed Messi to get away from him and the Argentine grabbed a first-half equaliser. Nevertheless, he rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net and secure his team three points. Almost undid his good work with an awful tackle that should have seen a penalty awarded to the Blaugrana.
A very accomplished display from the young centre-back. Whenever a Barca player got in behind he seemed to be straight there with an excellent tackle, proving what a competent defender he is.
Coped well with Pedro and did not allow the Spaniard to dribble past him and supply the ball to Messi. He did not get much of a chance to push on but it enabled him to help ensure solidity in the defence.
Screened the defence well from a holding midfield role, squeezing the space in which Barcelona could play. However, he lacked the energy to chase the ball and therefore the visitors controlled much of the possession
Forced to drop back for most of the game as Barca were allowed total control of the ball. It limited Madrid in attacking terms and so Kaka was unable to get in possession and test the opposition defence.
The Croatian orchestrated the rare Madrid attacks as he knocked the ball out of midfield, acting as a fulcrum between the forwards and back line. His excellent delivery was headed home by Ramos for the winner.
The youngster showed that he merited inclusion as he supplied a fantastic cross for Benzema to open the scoring after just six minutes. He should have got one himself shortly before the break but he headed into the side netting.
The winger did not use his pace to try and get at Jordi Alba as he failed to influence the game from the right side. To his credit, though, he regularly tracked the left-back's runs to assist Essien in defence.
Got his team off to the perfect start with a simple finish from Morata's cross in the sixth minute. However, he was starved of service for much of the game and failed to test Valdes again.
The Barcelona keeper could do very little to keep out the opener but proved to be a safe pair of hands thereafter. He kept out whatever was thrown at him and was shown a red card for his remonstrations after the final whistle.
Showed unrelenting energy as he motored up and down the left side of the pitch, though his link-up with Villa was not great. Unfortunately for him he was watched very closely by Callejon and thus his role was hindered.
Allowed Morata to skip past him and set up the first goal after just six minutes but somewhat atoned for that with a brilliantly nonchalant through-ball that Messi tucked away to level the scores. Nevertheless, he always looked vulnerable defensively.
Made a series of brilliant fully-committed, well-timed challenges to halt Madrid in their tracks throughout the game. However, he allowed Ramos to out-jump him at a crucial moment which cost his team a point.
Displayed his characteristically excellent vision as he picked out a few quality passes, but in a low-intensity game he struggled to make his mark on the game. Madrid's compact play suffocated his ability to change the game.
The youngster lost possession early on and Mourinho's men immediately attacked an put the ball in the net. He was swamped in midfield or the whole game and seemed a bit aimless due to that.
Read the game well in the heart of the defence and picked the right moments to step out and make a challenge. He dealt with both Benzema and Morata throughout but tired as the game grew on and that proved costly.
Did not have an awful lot to do in terms of sniffing out the ball and breakdown the Madrid momentum as his side were in control. However, he acted as a regular reference in midfield by always offering a route out of trouble for his team-mates.
Equaled Alfredo di Stefano's Clasico scoring record with his 18th goal against Real Madrid with a bright run and a similarly smart finish. He was at the heart of his team's best moments and could well have got another in the first half.
The winger did not get enough opportunities to really get at Coentrao and test the Portuguese full-back. He had a fairly average night, never really providing any danger on the right in terms of crosses or link-up with Alves.
Looked like he had the beating of Essien whenever he was one-on-one with him, but he was unable to exploit that. He was perhaps underused out on the left and was withdrawn in the 67th minute.
Replaced Coentrao in the 68th minute and did not look completely comfortable at left-back but he helped Madrid maintain the stout organisation that ensured the win.
Came on for Kaka in the 57th minute and added a lot more energy to the midfield. His dynamism breathed new life into Madrid as they charged on to victory.
Galvanised the team after coming on for Benzema in the 57th minute. He was a continual threat, running at defenders and finally testing Valdes. He saw one free kick palmed away by the keeper before another came back off the woodwork.
