The centre-back powered home a header from Khairul Amri's cross in the 93rd minute to hand the Malaysia Super League champions a dramatic 1-0 victorySafuwan Baharudin picked the perfect moment to score his first goal of the season as his late strike deep into stoppage time nicked a 1-0 victory for the LionsXII against Perak FA on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old centre-back's header off a Khairul Amri cross in the 93rd minute sealed a second consecutive win for the Malaysia Super League champions, who climbed to fifth in the table following the result.
Gabriel Quak and Hafiz Sujad came in for Nazrul Nazari and Firdaus Kasman in Ipoh, as Fandi Ahmad made two changes to the team that beat PKNS FC 2-1 at home last week.
The former was taken off for Sufian Anuar on the half-hour as Fandi sought to spice up his attack in what was otherwise an unremarkable game. Safuwan forced goalkeeper Razi Effendi to tip his header over the bar in the 47th minute, while Sufian nearly made an impact when he fired straight at the custodian five minutes later.
It was Safuwan who would prove to be the ultimate hero in stoppage time, as his header sailed beyond Razi and into the goal to seal three precious points for the LionsXII.
