Second-placed Miners are keen to earn a point in the Bekwai derby to keep their title-winning ambitions afloat as well as protect their unbeaten record this season
Unbeaten Ashantigold will make the short trip to the Bekwai Gyamfi Park to play their regional rivals New Edubiase in the Ghana Premier League 10th week top fixture.
The game will be keenly contested as fixtures between the two clubs have always lived up to its top billing and produced fireworks. Edubiase are yet to find their rhythm in the top flight this season and they will be hoping to beat their bitter rivals to put their term on track after some poor results.
The Miners, on the other hand, will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run as they seek to win the league for the first time in over 10 years.
The last four meetings between the two sides have produced a total of nine goals with Ashantigold scoring five whiles the Bekwai-based side have the remainder. The Miners have won two, a win for Edubiase and a draw.
Coach Bashir Hayford is likely to maintain the same set of players who tamed Accra Hearts of Oak at Len Clay last week. Ofosu Appiah, Tijani Joshua, Lawrence Lartey and Awudu Nafiu will provide cover for goalkeeper Robert Dabuo whilst the likes of Ato Bissah, Francis Adjei and others also sort things up in the middle and upfront.
The battle will hugely be decided from the middle as Edubiase skipper Asiedu Attobrah faces Eric Opoku, Francis Adjei and others for supremacy.
The Nuhu twins as well as Stephen Manu will also be vital upfront to the fortunes of the visitors. A draw is likely, but Edubiase can pull a fast one on the second-placed team.
