Orlando Pirates will be looking to bounce back from their last weekend defeat when they visit Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.

This clash will reunite Aces midfielder Abia Nale and Pirates new coach Vladimir Vermezovic. The duo worked together at Chiefs two seasons ago, but they will be facing each other for the first time tonight.

Nale is in high spirits after netting a brace during Aces' 5-2 win over struggling Moroka Swallows on Saturday, and he will want nothing more than to put one past his former mentor.

It is no secret that Clive Barker's charges will need no second invitation to do well against the Soweto giants, but they will need to replicate their last weekend's performance if they are to inflict more pain on Bucs.

Barker is known for his attacking brand of football, with Thabo Qalinge often taking defenders on, but he will need to be cautious against a side that is excellent in keeping possession.

A few changes are expected in the Buccaneers starting line-up, with Thabo Matlaba set to assume his responsibilities at left-back while at the same time pushing forward to create goalscoring opportunities.

However, Vermezovic's men will have to keep an eye on Themba Zwane, who has been a source of goals for AmaZayoni, especially with Mabhuti Khenyeza still out suspended.

Aces are currently ninth on the log with 30 points from 21 games, while the Buccaneers are lying fourth with 33 points from 20 games.

  • Pirates are 13 points behind log leaders Chiefs with 10 games to go.
  • Aces could go level on points (33) with Pirates if they win tonight.
  • In head-to-head stats, Bucs and AmaZayoni have met four times since 2009, with Pirates winning two games and Aces winning once while there's been only one draw.
  • Aces and Pirates have lost the same number of games this season (7).
  • AmaZayoni have lost just once in their 11 home games so far this term.
