AC Milan's quest for European football continues on Sunday with boss Massimiliano Allegri having a couple of injuries to contend with as defender Mario Yepes and midfielder Massimo Ambrosini miss out for the clash against Bologna.

Tough-tackling midfielder Nigel de Jong is the only long-term absentee for the hosts.

The Rossoneri have no suspensions to worry about, though, Stephan El Shaarawy is walking a disciplinary tightrope as his next booking incurs a ban.

Allegri might reshuffle his pack with Daniele Bonera in contention to start instead of Philippe Mexes, while promising youngster M'Baye Niang may play instead of Bojan up front.

Meanwhile for Bologna, they are unlikely to change the team that emphatically beat Chievo 4-0.

But coach Stefano Pioli is missing defender Cesare Natali, midifielders Saphir Taider and Henry Gimenez, and attacker Robert Acquafresca for the trip to San Siro.

  • AC Milan (7th) are 11 points off third-placed Lazio while Bologna languish in 14th position.

  • The Rossoneri are eight games unbeaten against the Rossoblu, a run which stretches back to August 2008.
  • Milan's biggest win against their opponents was 6-0 victory back in the 1990-91 season in Serie A.
  • Bologna last beat Milan at San Siro 2-1 back in 2008. Goals from Marco Di Vaio and Francesco Valiani were enough to give the visitors the win that day.
  • The Rossoblu have failed to find the net in seven of their last 10 matches away from home.
  • Pioli's side have had one win in their last eight away games, though, it came against Napoli with Panagiotis Kone (pictured, right) netting a stunning equaliser before Daniele Portanova sealed the 3-2 win.
