  • You'd have to say that a draw is a fair result. Credit to Southampton because they pressed and pressed and were finally rewarded. That's all we have time for from Old Trafford. Thanks for joining me, Ryan Bailey, this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye
  • FULL-TIME! That's it, the referee blows the final whistle and after a frantic finish, it's finished 1-1
  • 93'
United throwing bodies forward in search of a winner but Rafael's cross is headed away before Jones gives away a needless foul.
  • 92'
Replays suggest Lallana may have got the final touch but that doesn't matter as Southampton are level! Old Trafford is stunned.
  • 90' + 4'
    Yellow Card Phil Jones
  • 90'
    Five minutes added time!
  • 89'
    Assist Dejan Lovren
  • 89'
    Goal Adam Lallana
GOAL! The pressure tells as Southampton strike late to surely clinch a point. A corner isn't dealt with and Lovren bundles it home from close range through De Gea's legs.
  • 87'
    Substitution Wayne Rooney Chris Smalling
  • 86'
    Yellow Card José Fonte
Jose Fonte is booked for hauling down van Persie on the right as Chris Smalling replaces Rooney with just a couple of minutes remaining.
  • 85'
SAVE! Patient build-up play creates the opening for Clyne on the right but his powerful effort is well saved by De Gea.
  • 83'
Substitution Victor Wanyama Guilherme Do Prado
Final change for the away team as Wanyama, who picked up a foot injury following a challenge with Fellaini earlier, trudges off. It's an attacking switch because on in his place is winger Guly do Prado.
  • 82'
Evra makes an excellent tackle to win the ball from Clyde, but Saints have earn the corner. Welbeck does brilliantly to head away but then wastes the opportunity to feed Rooney on the break away.
  • 76'
    Substitution Marouane Fellaini Danny Welbeck
Second alteration from the home side as Fellaini, who is carrying a wrist injury, is given a rest and on comes Danny Welbeck. Moments later, Rooney flashes the ball across the face of goal, but Giggs is unable to stretch far enough to get a touch.
  • 76'
Schneiderlin is not renowned as a goalscorer and he showed why just now. Having weaved his way beyond four United players, the Frenchman then opts to shoot from 20 yards out. His connection is poor, though, and the ball drifts harmlessly wide of the target. More signs that Southampton are not giving up on this one.
  • 76'
Lallana and Luke Shaw with a couple of crosses. United manage to deal with the danger before Evans clear from a poor Fonte delivery.
  • 74'
SAVE! Some smart footwork from Lallana sees him fashion a chance for himself on the edge of the United area. He keeps his shot low and it forces De Gea to dive to his left to thwart the danger. The Saints are starting to push for an equaliser now.
  • 73'
Southampton asking all the questions now but are doing little to really test this shaky looking United defence. Old Trafford has gone very quiet in the last ten minutes.
  • 71'
STAT! 24 different players have started a Premier League match for Manchester United this season; more than any other side.
  • 69'
    Substitution Nani Ryan Giggs
  • 67'
    Substitution Steven Davis James Ward-Prowse
It's the end of Davis' afternoon as James Ward-Prowse is summoned on to the pitch. His first involvement sees a free kick swung into the box, but Osvaldo heads over. Moments later, United veteran Ryan Giggs replaces Nani.
  • 65'
Jones wins the ball in the middle of the park. Picks out Nani, but United opt to go backwards. This game very much in the balance despite the hosts' flurry of chances.
  • 63'
SAVE! Brilliant save by Boruc to deny Januzaj from at least 30-yards with an absolute thunderbolt. Fellaini can't direct the rebound on target but will United live to regret these missed chances?
  • 62'
CHANCES! United turning the screw in search of the second goal. Rooney's corner is flicked on by van Persie at the near post but hits the bar before Nani's header is well saved by Boruc.
  • 60'
OFFSIDE! van Persie and Rooney link brilliantly as well but the former is flagged offside as he slots home past Boruc. Another marginal call but the official just about got it right.
  • 57'
    Yellow Card Victor Wanyama
Wanyama goes into the book for a rash challenge on Januzaj, the referee had little option there.
  • 57'
    Substitution Jay Rodriguez Rickie Lambert
Southampton make their first change as England striker Rickie Lambert is introduced, much to the delight of the travelling fans.
  • 56'
    Yellow Card Adnan Januzaj
BOOKING! The first yellow of the afternoon for United and it is Januazj that receives it. To be fair to the Belgian it's a little harsh because he only has eyes for the ball as he goes into a slide tackle with his marker Clyne.
  • 54'
Davis with an intelligent pass into the feet of Lallana, who is a few yards offside. Saints continue to look very comfortable in possession. Meanwhile, Lovren with a late challenge off the ball on Fellaini, who is fortunate to get away without a booking.
  • 53'
Half an opportunity for the home side as Nani wriggles free and slides a pass through to Fellaini, who is stood to the right of the penalty area. The Belgium international goes for a first-time shot, but it's blocked by Lovren and the resultant corner comes to nothing.
  • 52'
Van Persie with a clearing header away on a post from Lovren's header. Was floating wide of De Gea's goal, but the striker was taking no chances.
  • 51'
Evans coming up with some more fine defending to cut out a cross from Shaw. Saints on the move, attempting to find this equaliser.
  • 50'
Good defending by Evans, who slides in to block Osvaldo's run. It's a tackle that the United defender had to make because had he missed it, the Southampton striker was through on goal. Then, moments later, the Northern Ireland centre-back slides in to turn a cross from Davis behind the a corner.
  • 48'
STAT! Southampton have won just one point in 14 Premier League trips to Old Trafford (D1 L13).
  • 47'
Another offside flag goes up against Van Persie. Saints continue to play a very high line pressing up the park.
  • 46'
Right then, United, attacking the Stretford End, get the second half started at Old Trafford.
  • HALF-TIME: Robin van Persie's first goal from open play since the start of the season separates the sides at the break with chances few and far between at either end.
  • 45'
But Luke Shaw's tame effort rebounds off the wall before Mike Jones blows the half-time whistle
  • 44'
Two minutes of stoppage time as Southampton win a free-kick right on the edge of the area...
  • 42'
Wanyama feeding Clyne in the Saints right-back area. Southampton using the ball well until the final third. Saints applying some pressure late in this first-half.
  • 41'
Osvaldo back on the park trying to run off his foot injury as Boruc knocks the ball long from his own box. Not too many chances in this first period, but United will be content so far.
  • 40'
Worrying moment for the Saints as Osvaldo goes down clutching his foot. He's up after some treatment but is noticeably limping around. Rickie Lambert has been sent out to warm-up just incase.
  • 38'
    Yellow Card Morgan Schneiderlin
YELLOW! A blatant booking, the first of the game, for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, as he trips up Januazj in full flow.
  • 35'
To be fair to Southampton, they've reacted to well to going behind. A neat passing move involving five players is worked to Lallana but he wastes the chance to shoot.
  • 34'
Chance for Steven Davis to unload a shot, but he wildly fires the ball wide with Evans coming out to close him down.
  • 32'
The visitors have gathered themselves after a difficult ten minutes and enjoy a decent spell of possession which ends with Lovren testing De Gea from range.
  • 30'
STAT! Robin van Persie scores his first Premier League goal since September 14th and his first from open play since scoring twice on the opening day.
  • 28'
The nature of this game has changed completely with Old Trafford now full of life as the hosts dominate.
  • 27'
CROSSBAR! This is more like the United we're accustomed to as Nani whips it in for Rooney, who takes a touch and smashes an unstoppable volley but it cannons off the bar.
  • 26'
    Goal Robin van Persie
GOAL! Brilliant ball by Januzaj sets Rooney away but he's thwarted by Boruc. However, it falls to van Persie who rounds the keeper and slots it past the defender on the line.
  • 23'
CHANCE! Rooney looses the ball inside his own half but Osvaldo can only shoot straight at De Gea.
  • 21'
Rafael looking for Nani with a long ball, but he slips at the wrong moment in the visiting box. Then, Rooney slips van Persie through on goal but he's marginally offside.
  • 19'
Carrick is in the right place at the right time to make the clearing header from a Lallana cross. David Moyes is barking out orders from the touchline but to no avail just yet.
  • 17'
Adam Lallana curls in a free-kick, but Fellaini is ideally positioned to clear the ball with a timely header. Southampton go backwards to retain possession seconds later.
  • 15'
Southampton enjoying plenty of possession with United forced to do the majority of the chasing. However, the hosts have had the best sights of goal thus far.
  • 14'
STAT: Saints have scored their opening goal in the 59th minute on average this season; the latest of all Premier League sides.
  • 12'
CLOSE! Van Persie with a shot on the turn from Nani's cross, but Boruc down to make the stop. At the other end, Wanyama decides to uncork a shot from distance, but the ball flies well wide of goal.
  • 11'
Van Persie almost in again seconds later. Evra charges down the left with menace and his cross is guided goal wards by the Dutch striker but Lovren is there to block the danger.
  • 10'
CHANCE! What an effort from Robin van Persie, who is inches wide from breaking the deadlock for United. Carrick picks him out inside the area, but instead of controlling the ball, he goes for an instant volley from a narrow angle, which beats Artur Boruc hands down. Thankfully for the Southampton keeper, the ball flies inches over the target.
  • 8'
A corner comes in from the visiting side, but this time Rodriguez can't get any power on the header. Easy take for De Gea.
  • 6'
Wanyama doing well to close down Fellaini deep in the home half. Saints squeezing the game up the park as much as possible.
  • 5'
At the other end, Jay Rodriguez is left unmarked at the back post but he can only steer his header over the bar. The Saints are really taking the came to the Champions.
  • 3'
It's been a fairly scrappy start to proceedings with neither side able to keep hold of the ball in the opening exchanges. Nani does well to beat his man down the right and delivers a wicked cross but it's well dealt with by Fonte.
  • 2'
It doesn't take long for Januzaj to get involved as he's taken down by Clyne on the left but Rooney's set-piece is poor.
  • 1'
It's been a bright start from the visitors who look to test the new-look defensive partnership of Jones and Evans early on.
  • 1'
KICK-OFF! The visitors get us underway at Old Trafford, attacking the Stretford End in this first period. It's a perfect afternoon for football in Manchester.
  • Both sides emerge side-by-side from the tunnel to a warm reception as the final pre-match rituals are completed. The Saints, lining out in their changed kit of black shirts and white shorts, have not won back to back Premier League away games since September 2001. Can they do it today?
  • STAT: Adnan Januzaj is only the second Manchester United player to score a brace on his first Premier League start for the club, after Ruud van Nistelrooy. The young Belgian starts again today after signing a new five-year contract at Old Trafford this morning.
  • No Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand for United today. I'm hearing that the Serbian picked up an injury against Sunderland last time out and has not trained much since. Phil Jones and Northern Ireland's Jonny Evans made up the central defensive pairing this afternnon.
  • David Moyes on striker Wayne Rooney: "I saw him like this on the first day of pre-season yet I had to keep telling everyone that was the case because the media thought it was different. I saw him in great form. He was in great fettle. His training was fantastic from day one. But people kept saying different things and I found it difficult to prove it different. You can see by his form and the goals he is scoring that what I was saying was right."
  • We're nearly all set for what promises to be an intriguing encounter between the Champions and the Saints, who are riding high at the moment. Both sets of players have completed their pre-match warm-up and have returned to the dressing room.
  • STAT: Southampton have conceded just two goals in their seven Barclays Premier League games in 2013-14; fewer than any other side.
  • Mauricio Pochettino: "It's going to be very difficult but we are going there with a positive mentality. I think both teams have changed since we last played them and I am very happy with how the squad is performing these days. They have a new manager who is trying to establish his ideas after many, many years of Sir Alex Ferguson leading the team. Change is never easy but it's clear that they have very good players and we will be facing a very tough team."
  • England international Rickie Lambert drops out of the team and has been replaced by Jay Rodriguez in attack. Elsewhere, Luke Shaw has returned at left-back, while Italian Pablo Osvaldo will partner Rodriguez.
  • Southampton: Boruc; Clyne, Lovren, Fonte, Shaw;Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Davis, Lallana; Osvaldo, Rodriguez. Subs: Lambert, Ward-Prowse, Cork, Guly, Chambers, Hooiveld
  • Fresh from signing a new contract that will keep him at the club for another five years, Adnan Januzaj is included in the home side's starting lineup. The 18-year-old will start wide on the left, while there is no place for experienced defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. In their place at centre-back is Phil Jones and Jonny Evans.
  • Manchester United: De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Evans, Evra; Nani, Carrick, Fellaini, Januzaj; Rooney, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Giggs, Smalling, Hernandez, Welbeck, Kagawa, Zaha.
  • With just twenty minutes until kick-off, lets have a look at the team news...
  • Meanwhile, Southampton have moved up to fourth place after winning their last three league games, the latest coming against Swansea City two weeks ago. The Saints have not won at Old Trafford since 1988, but they go into this contest above United and in fine form. What’s more, they have a good record on the road this season, having collected six points from a possible nine, conceding just the one goal in the process.
  • United are also hoping to avoid consecutive home defeats in the league for the first time since May 2002, having been beaten by West Brom last time out at Old Trafford.
  • David Moyes' side are looking to record back-to-back league victories for the first time this season and in the process put a line under their indifferent start under their new manager. The Red Devils, who currently sit ninth in the table, go into the match off the back of a 2-1 success at Sunderland before the international break.
