Kedah look to extend their unbeaten run as they host Perak in a mouth-watering Northern derbyMalaysian FA Cup semi-finalist Kedah, will host the northern derby against their neighbour Perak on Friday. Hosts Kedah will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run of 5 games at the Darul Aman Stadium. Kedah are through to the FA Cup semi-finals and will play Kelantan after beating T-Team on Tuesday.
Forward Mohd Khyril Muhymeen Zambri will return to strengthen Kedah’s attack after being suspended for the last game. Kedah head coach, Wan Jamak Wan Hassan will also be tempted to field Mohammed Hamidan, as the Ghanian striker scored two goals in the game against T-Team.
Badrol Bakhtiar and Amar Rohidan are expected to pose an attacking threat by combining with the forwards.
Ranked sixth in the Malaysian Super League, Perak has recorded five wins in ten league fixtures but failed to win in the last three matches. In their last outing, Perak came undone against Kelantan losing 2-0 with both goals conceded from dead ball situations.
Perak goalkeeper Nasril Nordin, who made a mistake in their last league fixture, should retain his place in the side or; Norizan Bakar could utilise his backup goalkeeper, Kamatul Effandi, who has not played a single game this season. The Slovakian midfielder, Michal Kubala has already made an impact in the league, scoring eight goals this season. Akmal Rizal Rakhli or Fahrul Razi Kamaruddin will be paired with Kubala.
Both teams have an equal chance of winning this match. Perak will not have it easy playing in front of the passionate Canaries support but the Seladang’s will be looking for ways to beat the home side. Kedah would be bouyed by their fine run in the FA Cup and will be looking to rediscover their league form.
