Live Commentary

  • Well, it was never going to be a classic and but for the controversy in the first half that was the penalty and the red card, maybe this would have been a draw for these two sides. As it is, though, Chris Hughton shakes hands with the Hull City bench and heads down the tunnel with his side, Norwich still looking for their first win of the campaign. I have been Hayden Gribble and thanks for keeping me company here this afternoon. Have a great bank holiday, whatever your team's results!

FINAL WHISTLE! The stadium erupts as Hull City record their first win of the season thanks to Robbie Brady's first-half penalty kick. They went down to ten men very soon after when Yannick Sagbo made a headbutting movement towards former city-boy Michael Turner but they held on for a result which will delight Steve Bruce.
  • 90' + 5'
    Yellow Card Javier Garrido
  • 90' + 5'
We have a minute of stoppage time left and the game is winding to an end, much to the frustration of Chris Hughton, who looks annoyed that sopme members of his side look resigned to defeat. It ain't over 'till it's over, boys!
  • 90' + 3'
Tom Huddlestone wins the man of the match, an announement greeted by a cheer from the home crowd. He has been efficient in the Hull midfield and is trying desperately to marshall his midfield into shape as another Norwich onslaught begins...
  • 90'
The fourth official declares that there will be six, yes, SIX, minutes of added on time. To be fair, that is about right as it took a while to patch Davies up after his clash with Turner. It's squeaky bumtime for the home faithful...
  • 89'
A cheers emitts from the crowd as Hoolalhan let's the ball get away from him as yet another Norwich attack breaks down. With one minute to go plus stoppage time...the home side are nearly there.
  • 86'
Hull are going their best to run the clock down but the canaries are rushing forward at every chance yet still unable to cut a clear chance at goal. The tigers have defended superbly today and at some points they have been outclassed. But their team work ethic is pulling them towards their first Premier League victory of the season.

  • 83'
It looks like both sides are running out of steam, now. Maybe Robbie Brady's spot kick - his first in the Premier League - will be enough to give the home side their first win. The last six minutes will tell if he has.
  • 80'
    SubstitutionRobbie Brady George Boyd

With just ten minutes to go plus stoppages, will Norwich rue their early missed chances or will they pierce the Hull defence and nab an equaliser? Chances have been few and far between for the home side but they will cling on by their fingernails if they have to here.
  • 78'
Chester has been on fine form for Hull today as he makes a perfectly timed challenge on Wes Hoolahan, who wins a corner despite wanting the penalty. Not for that tackle, son!
  • 76'
    Yellow Card Jake Livermore
  • 76'
CHANCE! Norwich are getting closer and it is Snodgrass who is leading the charge. He heads the ball across the six-yard box before Davies clears comfortably. The clock is ticking as we approach the final chapter in this encounter...
  • 74'
STAT ATTACK: Danny Graham has scored six goals in his last eight games against Norwich.
  • 73'
    SubstitutionNathan Redmond Wesley Hoolahan
  • 72'
    SubstitutionSone Aluko Danny Graham
  • 72'
Danny Graham will bring fresh legs to the home side as he makes his home debut from the bench. Can he help Steve Bruce's men hold on for victory of add to their tally?
  • 70'
A Hull break leads to Curtis Davies of all people to win a corner for the home side. It is a moment of rare respite for the tigers. With 20 minutes to go, it's getting a bit frantic now for both sides!
  • 67'
CHANCE! What a save from McGregor! He gets up to tip a bullet header from Van Wolfswinkel over the bar after good work on the wing from Garrido.
  • 66'
New-boy Johan Elmander must have been getting itchy feet on the bench. The former Bolton hitman is now on the pitch for Tettey. Can he make the difference and fire his new club back into this game?
  • 65'
    SubstitutionAlexander Tettey Johan Elmander
  • 63'
CHANCE! Van Wolfswinkel chests a dinked ball to Tettey, who fires high and wide. Norwich keep on knocking...
  • 60'
CHANCE! It must be said that Norwich are beginning to ramp it up as Howson has a shot from wide left of the area deflected towards McGregor, who collects the ball comfortably.
  • 58'
As the hour mark looms the game still feels scrappy but there is no sense of panic from the canaries. They will wait for their moment as the ten-man tigers tire. Will there be more goals in this? (Hope so!)
  • 56'
A poor touch from Russell Martin leaves Aluko rampaging past the centre circle with just Turner in front of him, one good touch and he will be through on goal. But the Norwich defender makes a cool interception and extinguished the danger.
  • 52'
Tettey wins a corner for the visitors which Shawcross delivers resulting in a clash of heads Curtis Davies and Turner. The former tigers captain is the centre of all attention today upon his return to the North east.
  • 50'
STAT ATTACK: All but one of the last eight encounters between these two sides have ended in 1-1 or 2-1 scorelines. (BBC Sport)
  • 47'
Norwich are looking to attack from the off as they keep possession in the Hull half with some pretty passing but no final ball. I hope that is not the story of this second half, we want goals!
  • 46'
    SubstitutionBradley Johnson Robert Snodgrass
  • 45'
It looks like Robert Snodgrass is on for Bradley Johnson as the canaries get us back underway, kicking from left to right.
  • We are just moments away from the second half...
  • STAT ATTACK: Hull have only lost one of their last seven games against Norwich. (BBC Sport)
  • To quote England legend Jimmy Greaves, 'It's a funny old game.' Despite being a goal up, the tigers have also had a man sent off in a scrappy affair. More to come in the second half? Or will Norwich capitalize on their extra man advantage and fight an almighty comeback?
  • 45'
CHANCE! The final kick of the half sees a free-kick for the visitors. Redmond on the left-hand side of the box roughly 25 yards out skews his shot wide as the half-time whistle blows.
  • 44'
CHANCE! Just a minute to go plus two minutes of stoppage time and Hull continue to look strong at the back. Chris Hughton's men are still waving forward but their attacks are easily broken down. Brady manages to get a shot away from just ourside the box but his effort drifts over the bar.
  • 43'
What a great challenge from James Chester. He comes in to block Van Wolfswinkel's short from the edge of the area just as the canaries' record signing gets ready to pull the trigger. A round of applause ripples the KC.
  • 40'
STAT ATTACK: Norwich claimed only two away victories last term... the joint lowest in the Premier League.
  • 37'
CHANCE! Despite being a man down, Hull are creating the better chances right now after a fantastic turn from Aluko leads to his shot going just past the wrong side of the far post with Ruddy well beaten. Who said the tigers were rocked by that sending off?
  • 27'
    Red Card Y. Sagbo
Oh Sagbo, what have you done? Turner goes over in oppositions box this time and looks to come together with the Hull striker when his appeal for a penalty was not forthcoming. In a short melee, a red card is produced by the referee and the home side are reduced to ten men and Steve Bruce looks confused by what has we all do!
  • 25'
That goal was most definitely against the run of play but it has perked the home fans up again who are creating one hell of an atmosphere at the KC today.
  • 22'
    Penalty Goal Robbie Brady
Robbie Brady looks nervous as he steps up to take the spot kick but ends up calmly slotting the ball confidently in the bottom right-hand corner of John Ruddy's net. The goal is against the run of play but Hull don't care...they are back in the big time.
  • 20'
PENALTY! Michael Turner returns to his former side for the first tiem today as a Norwich player and clumsily knocks over Sagbo in the box.
  • 19'
Looking at the replay that was a delightful backheel from Sagbo to play Livermore in but Steve Bruce is blowing a fuse on the touchline...he knows his charges have to up their game and is not afraid to let them know it!
  • 16'
CLOSE! As I bleat on about one former Spurs man it's the one on loan from the North London club who nearly opens his Hull account. Livermore burst from midfield and plays a clever one-two with Sagbo to give him ample space in the box but his shot from 15-yards spoons over the bar. That'll perk the home side up!
  • 14'
The home side need to get Huddlestone on the ball more often to pick open the Norwich lock but the away side are using their Premier League experience to keep the former Spurs ace quiet. The canaries look the more likely to open the scoring, here.
  • 10'
CHANCE! And still Chris Hughton's men keep coming. This time it is Nathan Redmond who is thwarted by a good save by Scotland keeper Alan McGregor. The man between the sticks palms the 20-yarder away dangerously close to Garrido but the Hull defence manage to get it clear.
  • 9'
And still Norwich knock on the door as a ball intended for Van Wolfswinkel is scrambled away by the tigers defence. The home side need to find a foot hold in these opening exchanges and the crowd are doing everything they can to encourage them forward.
  • 5'
STAT ATTACK: Norwich have kept clean sheets in just two of their last 52 away games in the top flight. (BBC Sport)
  • 3'
CHANCE! It's the canaries who are doing all the early running here and Leroy Fer gets his head to a swurving cross from the right-hand side. However his header at the back post goes wide.
  • 1'
We are underway at a rocking KC stadium as Hull get us underway kicking from right to left.
  • On closer inspection it looks like Sagbo attempted to headbutt Turner in the aftermath of the penalty shout. It was a stupid thing to do and the home side will have to reshuffle.
  • The teams are getting ready to leave the tunnel...kick-off is just a few minutes away!
  • STAT ATTACK: The Tigers have won one of their last 14 Premier League games (D3, L10). Their last top-flight victory was a 2-0 success against Fulham in March 2010 when Iain Dowie was their interim manager. (BBC Sport)
  • Chris Hughton is still without Sebastien Bassong at the back for the visitors and will be looking to his side's first win of the season and spoil the Hull party today. But will all three points be staying at the KC or travel back to Norfolk?
  • So for the home side, Steve Bruce has given full home debuts to midfielders Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore, who replace David Meyler and Sunderland loanee Danny Graham, who both drop to the bench. Meanwhile, the Canaries new-boy Johan Elmander has to make do with a place on the bench after his move from Galatasaray.
  • Hull City Tigers: McGregor, Elmohamady, Figueroa, Davies, Chester, Huddlestone, Livermore, Koren, Brady, Aluko, Sagbo.Subs: Harper, Bruce, McShane, Rosenior, Meyler, Boyd, Graham.Norwich: Ruddy; Whittaker, Turner, R Martin, Garrido; Tettey, Johnson, Howson, Fer, Redmond; van Wolfswinkel.Subs: Bunn, Snodgrass, Elmander, Becchio, Hoolahan, Olsson, R Bennett.
