Everton - Stoke City Preview: Toffees face struggling Potters without Fellaini & Pienaar

David Moyes's key first-team duo are both suspended for the visit of Tony Pulis's men, who have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games, to Goodison Park

Suspensions for key first-team stars Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini will force David Moyes into at least two changes from the side who defeated Manchester City 2-0 last time out.

Steven Pienaar, who received a red card against the Premier League champions, could be replaced by Steven Naismith, while Fellaini's absence, due to accumulating 10 yellow cards this season, may result in Nikica Jelavic partnering Victor Anichebe up front.

Phil Jagielka faces a late battle to overcome an ankle injury and is likely to be named on the bench if deemed fit.

For Tony Pulis's visitors, it is neither suspension or injury that proves problematic, with Stoke registering a clean bill health ahead of the trip to Goodison Park. It is instead their faltering Premier League form that is of most concern.

The Potters can recall Robert Huth to the starting XI after he completed his three-game suspension for violent conduct; the German will line up alongside Ryan Shawcross.

Cameron Jerome could also replace Peter Crouch up top, while Glenn Whelan's place is under threat from Charlie Adam as Pulis looks to rekindle some scoring prowess to a side who have found the back of the net just once in their past four games.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Everton have only lost five times so far this season in the Premier League - a best-ever for the club at this stage of the campaign.
  • Such a run has left the Toffees just six points from the top four with a game in hand on Tottenham, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.
  • Everton's biggest ever home win came against Stoke - an 8-0 victory back in November 1889.
  • Stoke City have scored just once in their past four games, while their Premier League return for 2013 is just six goals.
  • The Potters have also won just once in their last 11 league outings. Such form, along with their status as the team to draw the most games this season (joint with Norwich City on 13) has left the Staffordshire side languishing seven points above the relegation zone.
  • Stoke have not been beaten by Everton since 2010, with their last two meetings ending in 1-1 draws, including this season's reverse fixture at the Britannia Stadium.
  • Michael Owen could make his first appearance since announcing his retirement from the professional game. He has scored just once since joining Stoke at the start of the campaign.
