Late own goal completes LionsXII comeback win
The away side won for only the second time on their travels this season as they fought back from a goal down and a red card to come away with the three points

The LionsXII remained at the top of the Malaysian Super League (MSL) table after registering their second away victory of the season by seeing off Terengganu FA 2-1 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
A late own goal by Hasmizan Kamarodin deep into injury time gave the LionsXII all three points after Baihakki Khaizan's equalizer in the 79th minute cancelled out Ismail Faruqi’s opener in the 64th minute.
The away side ended the match with 10 men as defender Madhu Mohana was shown a second yellow card four minutes from time, and will be suspended for the next match against T-Team at the Jalan Besar Stadium on May 11.
The LionsXII could have scored a goal as early as half a minute after kick-off but Shahril Ishak’s header from inside the penalty box was weak and safely gathered by goalkeeper Sharimiza Yusof.
Terengganu were playing much of the first half in their own area as the LionsXII dominated proceedings and launched a barrage of attacks on the hosts.
But a fine performance by Sharmiza ensured that the first half ended goalless and left the visitors frustrated as they were not able to find the back of the net despite their dominance.
Sharmiza pulled off a double save midway through the first half, fisting away Hariss Harun’s shot from the edge of the byline and then recovered well to palm the ball to safety from Fazrul Nawaz’s follow up effort.
In the 24th minute, the LionsXII managed to beat the goalkeeper but Madhu’s header was cleared off the line by defender Muhaimin Omar.
Seven minutes later, Terengganu Nik Zul Aziz put Abdul Manaf through on goal but play was halted as the assistant referee had raised his flag for an earlier challenge by the former on Nazrul Nazari.
The first goal of the match came midway through the second half after substitute G. Puaneswaran did well to beat the offside trap and sent the ball into the six-yard box for the simplest of tap-ins for Ismail.
But their joy did not last long as towering centre-back Baihakki rose above the rest to connect with Shahril’s corner and leveled the scoreline 11 minutes from the end of regulation time.
A draw looked imminent but just minutes before the end, Hasmizan turned Shahril's freekick into his own net while attempting to clear, sparking wild celebrations from the LionsXII players as they finally tasted victory on the road since their opening day win against ATM FA.
