In the latest round of MSL matches, second-placed ATM will take on Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) in what looks to be a tight match with both teams still hunting the LionsXII at the top of the table. In an evenly matched contest, ATM will definitely have an advantage by playing at home in front of their own fans. After conceding three goals against LionsXII in Singapore, ATM have strengthened their defence, with two clean sheets in the past two games. Much of this can be attributed to their national defender Amiridzwan Taj who is playing better than ever and is rock solid at the back.
Meanwhile, up-front, Marlon Alex James has already clearly stated that he wants to win the golden boot this season and he is giving himself a good chance by continuing to score goals. He has scored 14 goals this season and his partnership with Hairuddin Omar is getting stronger by the week, as proven by the latter's recent return to goal-scoring form.
For JDT, they will clearly want to forget the 3-0 defeat to Perak in their last game. Playing poorly in midfield and also defensively, Fandi Ahmad's men clearly need to find a strategy to stop conceding goals. Last time out it was import player Paolo Rangel who punished their poor display and if they put in a similar performance, James will definitely take advantage of them.
In attack, JDT will continue to rely on Leonel Nunez. After an impressive debut, Nunez looks like he is settling well into the Johor side. He has already lost some of the excess weight that he brought with him to Malaysia. Johor fans will hope that this makes him more dangerous and clinical. Norshahrul has also been excellent for the past few games, but it remains to be seen whether Fandi will start Safee Sali in a three-pronged attack, something he has been reticent to do regularly this season.
