Juventus look to bounce back to winning ways in Serie A when they travel to Parma on Sunday whilst Milan look to continue their push up the table with an away trip to Sampdoria. Thanks for joining me on what has been a thrilling Coppa Italia contest at the Juventus Stadium. Until next time, goodbye.
Lazio reached the semi-finals yesterday with a 3-0 win over Catania. The other quarter-finals of Inter vs. Bologna and Fiorentina vs. Roma take place next week.
JUVENTUS ADVANCE TO THE SEMI-FINALS! Mirko Vucinic is the saviour again, crushing Milan hearts with an extra-time strike for the second successive season. Both sides had chances to win it, but it is Antonio Conte's side who march on in search of a record tenth Coppa Italia title.
Frantic defending from Juventus as Arturo Vidal denies Stephan El Shaarawy with a brave block. Seconds remaining...
HOW DID MILAN NOT SCORE? Milan take a short corner and Mattia De Sciglio lofts the ball to the back post where Francesco Acerbi heads across goal for Bakaye Traore whose shot from point-blank range flies straight at Storari. An inch either side and that would have been the equaliser!
Paolo De Ceglie surges to the byline and pulls the ball back, looking for a black and white shirt, but Riccardo Montolivo is back to intercept.
Milan continue to push forward and Bojan cuts inside Andrea Pirlo cleverly before firing a powerful effort over the crossbar.
Juventus just looking to wind down the clock here. They are only four minutes away from the semi-final. Can they hold on?
Stephan El Shaarawy looks to restore parity with a fierce drive from the corner of the box, but watches his effort soar high over the crossbar.
Juventus nearly wrap up the win with eight minutes to go when Vucinic finds Giaccherini a few yards out, but the midfielder's shot is excellent parried wide by Amelia.
GREAT CHANCE FOR MILAN! Bojan splits the Juventus defence with an incisive through ball and M'Baye Niang does the hard part by cutting inside Andrea Barzagli, but his left-footed shot lacks power and is easy for Storari.
Bakaye Traore looks to make a name for himself with a snapshot from the edge of the box, but his effort is comfortably saved by Storari.
SO CLOSE TO 3-1! Mirko Vucinic plays a superb diagonal pass over the Milan defence for Emanuele Giaccherini who is running through on goal. His first touch is excellent, but his second bobbles off his knee and Marco Amelia claims.
Riccardo Montolivo turns on the edge of the box and unleashes an effort on goal which is parried by Marco Storari. Juventus struggle to clear their lines and Stephan El Shaarawy hits a volley from the edge of the box which is once again saved by the Juventus goalkeeper.
Bojan finds Ignazio Abate on the right wing but the right-back's cross is excellently headed clear by Martin Caceres. With that, the referee blows for half-time.
Mirko Vucinic does well to halt a Milan attack and with Alessandro Matri open in space, all he has to do is clip the ball over the defence, but the Montenegrin contrives to send his effort straight at Philippe Mexes.
Milan are switching the ball from right to left and vice versa, but they cannot stretch this Juventus defence. Two minutes until the half-time interval.
With Milan throwing numbers forward, Juventus look to counter-attack but Andrea Pirlo's through ball is excellently cut out by Philippe Mexes. The Frenchman was the only Milan player in his half then.
Can Milan respond? Massimiliano Allegri looks animated on the touchline. Will he see his side knocked out to Juventus in extra-time for the second successive season?
Mirko Vucinic looks to repeat history by scoring an extra-time winner but his shot after a good one-two with Arturo Vidal deflects off Francesco Acerbi and into the gloves of Marco Amelia.
The first half of extra time is underway. Which side can dig the deepest to find a winner?
No. The ball is laid off for Stephan El Shaarawy but his powerful low effort strikes the wall and Paolo Mazzoleni blows for extra time.
Bojan wins a freekick right on the edge of the box after his jinking run is brought to a halt from a clumsy challenge from Bonucci. The defender is duly cautioned. Can Milan steal it at the death?
Emanuele Giaccherini looks to make the headlines with a strike from the edge of the box, but his effort deflects behind for a corner. From the set-piece, Andrea Pirlo's delivery goes out of play for a goal-kick.
Not much is coming off for Alessandro Matri at the moment as his latest involvement sees his touch flick up off his hand for handball. One minute remaining plus stoppage time. Will there be a late twist to this cup tie?
WHAT A CHANCE FOR MILAN TO WIN IT! Mattia De Sciglio gets forward from left-back once again and sends in a teasing cross towards M'Baye Niang but the 18-year-old nods a header just wide of the post when he really should have hit the target. That was the chance!
Arturo Vidal goes down under a challenge from Kevin Prince Boateng. Having just used his final sub, Antonio Conte looks concerned on the touchline. The Chilean midfielder should be able to continue.
Milan have burst to life in the last few minutes and Bojan looks to restore his side's lead with a shot from the edge of the box, but Leonardo Bonucci provides a crucial block to deny the Spaniard.
Arturo Vidal pings a long ball over the heads of the Milan defence, looking for the run of Mirko Vucinic, but the Montenegrin striker is frustrated to see the linesman's flag raised.
Milan enjoy a sustained spell of pressure around the Juventus box but Bojan's flick is just out of reach of Mattia De Sciglio. One spark of magic could decide this cup tie.
EL SHAARAWY TO THE RESCUE! Stephan Lichtsteiner looks set to score when Mirko Vucinic picks him out at the back post with a superb chipped pass, but the 20-year-old striker tracks back excellently to produce a last-ditch challenge.
Tensions beginning to boil over here as Philippe Mexes and Arturo Vidal become involved in a spot of handbags. Fifteen minutes until the break, are we heading for extra time?
M'Baye Niang looks to embark on a mazy run into the Juventus penalty area but is denied by a brilliant interception from Leonardo Bonucci.
Stephan Lichtsteiner looks to inspire the Bianconeri with a lung-busting run but he cannot quite reach Mirko Vucinic's through pass and the ball runs out for a goal-kick.
Milan just cannot get out of their half at the moment and Alessandro Matri looks to latch onto Mauricio Isla's slide pass but he is adjudged marginally offside.
Milan look to re-take the lead when Riccardo Montolivo lays a free-kick off to Kevin Prince Boateng but the Ghanaian's thunderous drive blazes over the bar.
Kevin Prince Boateng wins a freekick in a promising position but Riccardo Montolivo's delivery is poor and Juventus are allowed to clear the ball upfield.
Juventus threaten when Giovinco's clever pass behind the defence finds Lichtsteiner but the Swiss' low cross is excellently saved by Amelia.
The home crowd beginning to show the first signs of frustration as Giovinco's through pass is easily cut out. Milan attack down the other end with Kevin Prince Boateng who jinks way past Andrea Barzagli before drawing a good save from Marco Storari.
Milan are defending excellently in this second period and the Juventus attack have hardly had a sniff of Marco Amelia's goal bar that Giovinco chance. I wouldn't be too surprised to see some activity from the bench soon.
Luca Marrone decides to try his luck from distance but his ambitious effort takes a deflection and is comfortably foiled by Marco Amelia.
Leonardo Bonucci produces a brave tackle to launch a counter-attack but Sebastian Giovinco's through ball, intended for Alessandro Matri, is well cut out by the Milan defence.
Giampaolo Pazzini spreads the ball out wide to Ignazio Abate and the Milan right-back whips in an inviting cross but there is no Milan shirt on the end of it. Massimiliano Allegri's side have looked more composed since the break.
JUVENTUS SHOULD BE AHEAD! Leonardo Bonucci's searching ball finds Sebastian Giovinco unmarked in the box courtesy of the back of Arturo Vidal's head, but the striker's feeble effort is comfortably saved by Marco Amelia.
Some neat passing on the edge of the box from Juventus nearly ends with an opening but Giovinco's deft flick is intercepted by Mexes.
Promising start to the second half with both sides looking to get forward early on. Neither goalkeeper has been tested so far.
The second half is back underway. Seems that Milan fans think they need to strengthen their central defence while Juventus fans are looking for a prolific centre-forward. Time will tell...
What did you make of that first half? Who do you think Juventus and Milan should look at signing in this January transfer window? Let me know your thoughts on Twitter @MaxBentley1.
HALF TIME: JUVENTUS 1-1 MILAN. Stephan El Shaarawy gave Milan a dream start when he coolly converted his 17th goal of the season on six minutes after smart work from Kevin Prince Boateng but since then the Bianconeri have really taken control of this cup tie and levelled through Sebastian Giovinco's stunning free-kick. The Italian striker spurned a glorious opportunity to put his side in the lead, with Alessandro Matri.also guilty of profligacy when he headed wide from a few yards out. An enthralling first-half here at the Juventus Stadium, all square at the break.
Milan are just looking to see out these dying embers of the first half. Since Sebastian Giovinco's equaliser they really have been second-best. Time for Allegri's side to re-group at the break.
The Juventus players surround the referee when Philippe Mexes prevents Marco Storari from throwing the ball out early and launching a counter-attack. They demand a second yellow card but Paolo Mazzoleni refuses to take further action.
Nearly a howler from Storari! The stand-in goalkeeper miskicks his clearance straight into the path of Kevin Prince Boateng but the keeper's blushes are spared as the Ghanaian's shot is excellently blocked by Leonardo Bonucci.
Sebastian Giovinco is really giving Francesco Acerbi the runaround at the moment. Can he add to his tally before the break?
Ignazio Abate has the opportunity to deliver a teasing cross into the box, but his attempt is poorly executed and Andrea Barzagli heads clear. Marco Storari has hardly touched the ball.
Juventus win another corner when Mattia De Sciglio halts the run of Stephan Lichtsteiner. Giaccherini delivers the ball from the right again but Kevin Prince Boateng rises highest to keep the sides level.
Juventus are really bossing this game now and they win a corner from the right. Giaccherini whips the ball in but Giampaolo Pazzini is back to head the ball clear.
WHAT A CHANCE FOR GIOVINCO! Francesco Acerbi completely misreads Alessandro Matri's ball over the top and heads the ball into the path of the onrushing Giovinco, but the striker's touch takes him too wide and he skews his shot well wide of Amelia's goal.
Giovinco nearly does it again! The striker curls a wonderful effort over the wall again and it is heading for the same top corner, but Marco Amelia gets across his goal excellently to produce a fine finger-tipped save.
Juventus are enjoying the lion's share of possession at the moment with Milan seemingly happy to drop off and attack on the counter. There has been a lot of speculation on the future of Didier Drogba in recent weeks with both these sides identified as leading candidates in the race for his signature. Good signing?
Emanuele Giaccherini delivers a deep corner into the Milan box which is headed clear by Philippe Mexes only as far as Arturo Vidal, who attempts an audacious acrobatic effort which flies narrowly over the bar.
Another sloppy pass, this time from Mexes, whose wayward pass finds Vidal 30 yards out. The Chilean midfielder takes a touch and unleashes a venomous shot towards goal, but sees his effort strike the back of the unfortunate Alessandro Matri.
Juventus are nearly masters of their own downfall when Martin Caceres' sloppy pass is intercepted by Urby Emanuelson, but the Dutchman dallies on the ball and a promising move breaks down.
Sebastian Giovinco and Alessandro Matri have linked up nicely in the early stages and they combine once again when Giovinco controls Barzagli's long ball and lays the ball off for his strike partner, but his effort goes into the turf and is comfortably saved by Marco Amelia.
Milan force their way into the Juventus third for the first time since going ahead but Riccardo Montolivo cannot pick out a black and red shirt in the box as his his cross is over-hit.
Lovely stuff from Juventus. They carve open the Milan defence with a series of first-time passes but Sebastian Giovinco's flick can't quite find its way to Arturo Vidal and Milan breathe a sigh of relief.
That's how to respond! That goal has set the Juventus fans bouncing up and down and they are the side with the impetus at the moment. Milan have hardly had possession of the ball since going ahead.
It's been a positive response from Juventus. Sebastian Giovinco collects the ball on the edge of the Milan box and looks to wriggle his way past two defenders, but is thwarted by an excellent challenge from Francesco Acerbi. What a start we have had to this match!
JUVENTUS SHOULD BE LEVEL! Sebastian Giovinco whips in a teasing left-footed cross from the right which meets the head of the unmarked Alessandro Matri, but the former-Milan striker's glancing header somehow creeps the wrong side of the post.
Andrea Pirlo is on the bench for Juventus tonight so it seems that the late change to the starting line-up was a tactical switch from Antonio Conte.
Bright start from Milan! Stephan El Shaarawy's attempt to dribble his way into the box is thwarted by Leonardo Bonucci but the ball falls kindly for Massimo Ambrosini, whose wonderful left-footed curling effort is tipped over the bar by Marco Storari.
Riccardo Montolivo looks to pick out Giampaolo Pazzini with a cross into the box, but Leonardo Bonucci rises highest to head the ball clear.
Early stoppage in play as Stephan Lichtsteiner goes down after a strong aerial challenge from Mattia De Sciglio. A chorus of boos every time a Milan player touches the ball early on.
Paolo Mazzoleni blows the whistle and Milan get the game underway!
A fantastic atmosphere at the Juventus Stadium with the home fans in fine voice. A good turn-out from the travelling Milan support too. Captains Marco Storari and Massimo Ambrosini exchange handshakes in the centre-circle. Kick-off is only moments away...
There has been a late change to the Juventus line-up as Luca Marrone replaces Andrea Pirlo. More on that when I hear something...
Milan have played Juventus on 21 occasions in the Coppa Italia, winning seven, drawing seven and losing seven.
Milan glided past Reggina 3-0 in the last round and Massimiliano Allegri makes three changes to the side who defeated Siena at the weekend, with Philippe Mexes returning to the defence after his suspension. Marco Amelia replaces Christian Abbiati in goal whilst Antonio Nocerino makes way for Urby Emanuelson.
Juventus secured their path to the quarter-finals courtesy of Sebastian Giovinco's solitary goal against Cagliari and the little man starts up front tonight alongside Alessandro Matri. Marco Storari is handed a rare start in goal, while Martin Caceres takes his place in defence with Giorgio Chiellini sidelined through injury.
MILAN (4-3-3): Amelia; Abate, Mexes, Acerbi, De Sciglio; Montolivo, Ambrosini, Boateng, Emanuelson, Pazzini, El Shaarawy.
JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Storari, Caceres, Bonucci, Barzagli; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Giaccherini, Isla; Matri, Giovinco.
Here is tonight's team news, starting with the Italian champions Juventus...
When these teams met in last year's Coppa Italia semi-final, a Mirko Vucinic strike after extra-time gave Juventus a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Rossoneri. The Biaconeri were denied any hope of a record tenth cup triumph however when they were defeated 2-0 in the final by Napoli. Can they go one better this year?
Tonight, the quest for a Coppa Italia title will end for one of Italy's footballing giants as Juventus and AC Milan clash in the quarter-finals. Having rested their legs and filled their stomachs over the Christmas period, both sides returned to Serie A action over the weekend, but enjoyed contrasting fortunes. Milan edged out Siena 2-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza whilst Antonio Conte's side suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at home to 10-man Sampdoria. Which side can claim the spoils tonight? Bringing you all the drama of the Coppa Italia from the Juventus Stadium, my name is Max Bentley.
