Vietnam will be going all out to secure a much needed win over hosts Thailand who are expected to field a team consisting of their second-string players.
"We will make some changes to line-ups and formation in the coming game with Thailand," said coach Phan Thanh Hung in a pre match press conference.
"Vietnam now have nothing to lose so we will fight until the end."
The Golden Star's midfielder, Le Tan Tai went on to re-iterate his gaffer's views saying: "Thailand are a strong team but there's still chance for Vietnam so we must play at our best. It will be a big game and even if we are eliminated in group stage, we must put a good display and not let the fans down."
Winfried Schafer, the Thailand coach, on the other hand dismissed suggestions that his second-string players will be pushovers for Vietnam, saying: "They are a good, strong team but Vietnam will have to play hard as they need the three points. But we will also be playing for the three points."
"I just don’t like to lose. Our players must fight although there will be some concerns with yellow cards and injuries."
Thailand will be without suspended Phichitphong Choeichiu while Adul Lahsoh and Chonlatit Jantakim are on one yellow card.
Vietnam have a surprisingly good record at the Rajamangala Stadium against Thailand with an impressive 100% winning percentage.
