The Burmese national team edged ever closer to the latter stages of the AFF Suzuki Cup in November after recording a 2-1 win over a resilient Timor Leste at the Thuwunna Stadium.
It was their second win in three days, having beaten Brunei 1-0 at the same venue on Friday.
The home side started the better of the two teams and almost scored the first goal but Moe Win’s header went wide.
Despite playing against the bigger Timorese, Myanmar did not look perturbed and continued to dominate the proceedings until they opened the scoring in the 37th minute through Kyi Lin. The promising 20-year-old sneaked in at the far post to head the ball in from 3 yards.
The visitors improved and played with a lot more composure after the break, and reaped their rewards 8 minutes into the half when Pinheiro Da Silva’s volley found the back of the net to tie the game.
Nine minutes later, the Burmese almost went back ahead but Kuang Si Thu’s cross hit the post and bounced out of play.
Star performer Kyi Lin then capped off a great day at the office for both himself and the country when he netted the winner in the 73rd minute.
Myanmar how have 6 points from two games and will enjoy an extended rest before taking on Cambodia on Thursday.
