The Blues keep up their bid for a top four place with a fairly comfortable win, while Frank Lampard edges ever closer to Bobby Tambling's all-time club scoring record

    Petr Cech

Swansea's lack of cutting edge meant he didn't have a save to make, but what he had to do he did with the minimum of fuss.

  • Ashley Cole

    Ashley Cole

Troubled whenever Hernandez got him one-on-one, but this wasn’t often. Most of his time was spent in the opposition half, where he was as industrious and aware as ever.

  • David Luiz

    David Luiz

Excellent at the base of midfield, succeeding with most of his attempted tackles and interceptions, feeding Hazard, Mata and Oscar, and surging forward himself when the opportunity arose.

  • Gary Cahill

    Gary Cahill

Remarkably assured on his first start for six weeks, covering for Terry when required and recycling possession well.

  • John Terry

    John Terry

His lack of pace was exposed on a couple of occasions and he was manoeuvred off the ball worryingly easily by Michu, but his composure helped start a couple of promising attacks.

  • César Azpilicueta

    César Azpilicueta

One of his more convincing displays in a blue shirt. Tidy going forward and solid defensively, he prevented Routledge from exerting any influence over the game.

  • Ramires

    Ramires

Was his usual industrious and combative self before succumbing to injury after just 24 minutes.

  • Oscar

    Oscar

At first it looked as if it wouldn’t be his day, with a couple of uncharacteristically poor touches spurning presentable opportunities. When Lampard fed him the ball on the edge of the area on 43 minutes, however, he made no mistake.

  • Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard Top of the Match

The liveliest of the ‘Three Amigos’, his impudent skill wowed the Stamford Bridge crowd on numerous occasions, never more so than one particular run down the left which saw him beat Rangel with a stepover before uncorking a rabona cross which deserved better than to flash unclaimed across the penalty area.

  • Juan Mata
    14

    3.50

    Juan Mata

Not his most influential performance on his 25th birthday, but still looked a class act at the heart of Chelsea’s attacking play, and one particularly sublime piece of skill won the penalty.

  • Demba Ba

    3.00

    Demba Ba

Worked hard up front, sometime as no more than a wall used to direct the ball back into the path of the likes of Mata, Hazard and Oscar, but still managed to test Vorm on a couple of occasions himself.

Substitutions

  • Frank Lampard

    Frank Lampard

Made the most of his unexpectedly early introduction by slamming home a penalty in first-half injury time to make the game safe. He had a few other shots too, but, chasing an all-time scoring record, who wouldn't?

  • Michel Vorm

    Michel Vorm

Could do nothing about either goal, and made a couple of other fine saves to limit the damage to his team.

  • Chico

    Chico

Looked very comfortable on the ball and kept Ba reasonably quiet. Not directly responsible for either goal.

  • Ashley Williams

    Ashley Williams

Matched Ba in terms of aerial power, but his positioning was exposed as occasionally flawed by the fluid movement of the rest of Chelsea's attack.

  • Ángel Rangel

    Ángel Rangel

Tormented by Hazard all afternoon and not given much of a chance to get forward and combine with Hernandez.

  • Ben Davies

    Ben Davies

Rarely beaten one-on-one but had real trouble coping whenever Azpilicueta surged forward to join the Chelsea attack.

Leon Britton Flop of the Match

Settled his team well early on with sensible use of the ball, but gave into panic immediately before half-time, felling Mata to allow Lampard to make the game safe.

  • Michu

    Michu

Did as much as he could to be a nuisance with next to no service, but couldn't drag his team back into the game.

  • Pablo Hernández

    Pablo Hernández

His team's liveliest attacking outlet, he troubled Cole whenever he got the chance to run at him. His finishing was poor though.

  • Wayne Routledge

    Wayne Routledge

Nullified by the impressive Azpilicueta, and replaced by Dyer on 66 minutes.
