The deadlock was broken in the 16th minute as Manchester City‘s captain Thomas Holland played a delicate lob to Joseph Nuthall in the penalty box.

From a tight angle, Nuthall was able to squeeze his shot past Singapore custodian, Kenji Rusydi, to make it a goal up for the Citizens. The early goal was a sign of things to come and set the tone for a dominant display from Manchester City.

Singapore was presented with an opportunity on goal in the 28th minutes as Hami Syahin took full advantage of a miss-pass at the back by City. Hami cleverly turn the defence inside out but his shot was well saved by City goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw.

The last ten minutes of the first half saw City adding two more goals to seal their spot in the semi-finals.

Indecisiveness by the U15 custodian Rushdi, presented Nuthall with ample time for his second goal in the 31st minute. He cooly rounded the goalkeeper before placing the ball into an empty net.

Six minutes later, a bad touch by Amer Nazri gifted City with possession in the 37th minute. Seeing the goalkeeper off the line, Marcus Wood delivered a beautifully precise lob from thirty yards to give his side a three goal lead as the teams headed for the dressing room.

It only got worse for Singapore as City continued their onslaught, accumulating two more goals within three minutes in the second half.

Goals from Aaron Namane and Lukas Nmecha in the 47th and 50th minutes respectively gave City a five goal lead and put the game beyond the reach of Singapore.

Substitute Joseph Hardy added a sixth and the final for the night for his team in the 56th minute. He single-handedly beat the entire defence and, with slightest of touches, put the ball beyond the on-rushing substitute goalkeeper Adib Hakim.

The win means that Manchester City top their group and sets up an exciting semi-final clash with Ajax on Friday.
