Took his tally to 26 league goals for the season with a double that makes him United's fourth-highest scorer of all time. Equalised in the 41st minute with a glancing header and slotted home the fourth on 69 minutes. Did little else, but does it matter?
Showed why United value him so highly with superb skill and an even better finish from the edge of the box to put United ahead in the 57th minute before provided alert assists for the hosts' third and fourth goals.

The United old boy could do nothing about the hosts' goals and made a superb stop in the dying seconds to deny Ferdinand.

The Everton captain lost Rooney in the build-up to United's first goal but produced a captain display as he never gave up. Moved to left-back late on.
Caused United problems in the first-half as he drifted between the lines but faded after the break.
The South African was always a threat with his skill and trickery before he scored Everton's fourth goal with an intelligent run and classy finish.
Superb volley for Everton's second goal and played an astute pass for Pienaar's strike. The Belgian's strength, size and awareness made him a good outlet and he was comfortable receiving the ball.
Had two sights on goal and produced two fine finishes. Wonderful header to put the Toffees ahead in the first-half and drilled home a half-volley for his side's third goal. Very classy customer.
