  The giant midfielder was booed by the home fans as he left the field in the 65th minute such was the nature of his performance. The Belgian did not only play poorly, he failed to show any fight or desire to correct it.

  Another Everton player who fell victim to the boo boys. His misplaced pass allowed McManaman in to score the visitors' second and probably played a large part in the captain leaving the field at half time.

  Though the Ivorian did not get a goal of his own, his hold-up play and work-rate provided the platform for Wigan's victory. The Everton defence just could not dispossess him at times, or keep up with his pacey runs.
