Live Commentary

  • So that's it from me on a momentous day for Leeds United, who deliver another moment of cup magic after knocking Everton out of the Capital One Cup earlier in the year. This is Nicholas McGee, signing off!
  • There was one late chance as Scott Parker won a free kick on the right flank, but even with Brad Friedel up in the area, they could not take advantage and Leeds are able to hold on to send the Premier League side packing. The Yorkshiremen progress to the 5th round while Tottenham will have to concentrate solely on their battle for Champions League qualification.

    Yellow Card Michael Brown

A deep cross for Assou-Ekotto goes out of play. That should be that.

We're into four minutes of added time at Elland Road.
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Benoit Assou-Ekotto
  • 89'
Massive chance for Spurs as Jonathan Obika blazes over through on goal after Leeds had wastefully given the ball away from a free kick.
  • 86'
Frustration appears to be growing among the visitors, time is quickly ebbing away.
  • 83'
Some 'oles' from the home fans as Leeds knock the ball about with confidence. A little early for that I think.
  • 80'
    Yellow Card El-Hadji Diouf
  • 80'
Leeds win a free-kick which comes to nothing, but not before the ever-controversial Diouf is booked for timewasting.
  • 79'
    Yellow Card Jan Vertonghen
  • 77'
No one is leaving at Elland Road, this one is finely poised and set to go right to the wire. Edge of your seat stuff.
  • 74'
Leeds are continuing to press ahead in an attempt to find a third goal. That could leave them open at the back, but Neil Warnock's men certainly have nothing to lose.
  • 71'
Huge save from Brad Friedel as McCormack breaks free again but the American stopper is equal to his effort and is able to parry.
  • 70'
Moussa Dembele fires an effort towards goal which is deflected wide for a corner. Spurs are getting closer.
  • 67'
This has been a cracking cup tie but I'm struggling to find much to talk about at the minute. Perhaps Leeds deserve a bit of credit for that.
  • 66'
    SubstitutionKyle Naughton Kyle Walker
  • 64'
So after a frantic start to the second half, this one has a hit a bit of a lull. Is this the calm before the storm?
  • 61'
It will be interesting to see how Leeds react to that goal, will they go into their shell and try and see out the game, or will they attempt to find the crucial third goal?
  • 59'
    SubstitutionGylfi Sigurdsson Jonathan Obika

    Goal Clint Dempsey
Clint Dempsey has spurned a number of chances this afternoon but takes this one with aplomb as he directs Gareth Bale's header into the top corner with a deft header. Spurs are back in it.
  • 56'
Tottenham look to be readying a few substitutes, which is not really a surprise, they need to turn things around fast.
  • 53'
Not quite sure how Clint Dempsey missed that, the American firing wide from point-blank range following excellent work from Aaron Lennon.
  • 50'
    Goal Ross McCormack
It's been a very open start to the second half, and Leeds take advantage of a huge hole in Tottenham's back four as Ross McCormack latches on to a flick-on from Diouf before racing ahead and curling in a superb left-footed effort past Friedel and into the top corner. Elland Road goes wild.
  • 46'
Leeds get the second half underway!
  • Referee Kevin Friend blows to signal the interval and it is the Championship that hold a deserved lead thanks to a goal from Luke Varney. Spurs have been highly disappointing and will need to improve greatly if they are to turn this deficit around.
  • 45'
We're almost at half-time here and it is nearly 2-0 the hosts as Ross McCormack is denied by Friedel from close range.
  • 43'
Bit of a break in play here as Sigurdsson receives treatment for an injury.
  • 40'
There is a no tempo to this game at the moment, half-time can not come quick enough.
  • 37'
This one is getting a bit feisty, Gareth Bale has a word with the linesman after being penalised for a shove of Aidan White, and Luke Varney has a go at Kyle Naughton after the forward brought down the defender.
  • 34'
Tottenham almost create an opening down the right but Sam Byram does well to clear the danger.
  • 32'
Not much to report at the moment with Tottenham dominating possession but really struggling to produce any attack of any potency.
  • 29'
Andre Villas-Boas will undoubtedly be very disappointed with his side's showing so far, Spurs have created little and will need to improve big time if they are to progress to the next round.
  • 26'
This is a really competitive game in the middle of the park, El Hadji-Diouf wins a free-kick which is wasted and runs out of play for a goal-kick.
  • 23'
Tottenham look a little bereft of ideas at the moment, they have to create any glaring chances and Leeds look comfortable.
  • 20'
Luke Varney powers another effort over the bar, the Leeds' forward looks in the mood today.
  • 18'
Almost a quick reply from Spurs as Gylfi Sigurdsson heads over from a Kyle Naughton cross.
  • 15'
    Goal Luke Varney
Leeds take the lead and it comes from nothing as Michael Brown hits a long ball which falls into the path of Varney who storms down the left before slotting into the bottom corner past Friedel.
  • 13'
Leeds deliver a decent cross from the right but it is well saved by Friedel, the home side are beginning to get into the game here.
  • 10'
Tottenham go close as Clint Dempsey again misses a chance, heading over from a corner.
  • 7'
Tottenham are beginning to build a little pressure and create half a chance as Clint Dempsey skews an effort wide.
  • 4'
It's been a slow start to this one, no real goalscoring opportunities as yet.
  • 1'
Early chance for the home side as Luke Varney wins a corner, but it is well cleared by Spurs.
  • 1'
    Tottenham get the game underway
  • The teams emerge from the tunnel at Elland Road and we are almost ready for action.
  • Meanwhile Tottenham make five changes to the side that earned a late draw with Manchester United, as Brad Friedel, Jan Vertonghen, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Tom Huddlestone and Gylfi Sigurdsson come in for Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson, Moussa Dembele and Jermain Defoe.
  • So Leeds make three changes from their last outing, with Jamie Ashdown replacing Paddy Kenny in net, Paul Green coming in for Ross Barkley in midfield and Luke Varney taking the place of want-away striker Luciano Becchio.
  • Tottenham: Friedel; Naughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto; Huddlestone, Parker; Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale; Dempsey Subs: Gomes, Walker, Townsend, Livermore, Dembele, Dawson, Obika
  • Leeds: Ashdown; Byram, Peltier, Lees, White; Green, Brown, Austin; Varney, Diouf, McCormack Subs: Kenny, Pearce, Tonge, Norris, Somma, Hall, Dawson
  • We start with the two teams...
