Zaha didn’t feel any love at Manchester United, says Tony Cascarino

Former Ireland international, Tony Cascarino has admitted that Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was unloved while at Manchester United.

The Cote d'Ivoire international teamed up with the Red Devils in 2013 from Palace after an impressive campaign where he scored eight goals but spent the chunk of his time at Selhurst Park and with Cardiff City on loan before he rejoined his former club on a permanent basis in 2015.

The forward scored the matchwinning goal for Roy Hodgson’s side on his return from a knee injury on Saturday against Chelsea.

And Cascarino opined that Zaha was in the Old Trafford at the wrong time as he was not loved and he tipped him for greater success in Europe following his commanding performance against the Blues.

“Zaha was the golden boy at Palace before he joined Manchester United and was sidelined by David Moyes,” Cascarino wrote in The Times.

“He didn’t feel any love at Old Trafford.

“It’s clear as day that Zaha is a Champions League player just look at his performance and goal for Palace against Chelsea on Saturday.

“He should be playing for a Champions League team but he needs an arm around the shoulder.

“He was at United at the wrong time and if he were there now would not look out of place.

“He would be cheap at £30m and I think he could do a job for any of the elite teams — Chelsea, the Manchester clubs and Tottenham Hotspur — and Arsenal too.”
