Wasiu Alalade: Why Niger Tornadoes win was 'important' for Enyimba

Enyimba's Wasiu Alalade has revealed how 'very important' their Wednesday's 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes in a rescheduled Nigerian top-flight tie in Calabar.

The People Elephants suffered their first defeat in 12 successive games in the recent 3-0 defeat at CARA Brazzille and were hoping to bounce back against Hamza Abara's side.

Paul Aigbogun's men have almost forced a goalless draw by the Ikon Allah Boys before a last-gasp goal from ️ Emeka Obioma helped them returned to winning ways.

"It was a very tough game but thanks God we won against Niger Tornadoes," Alalade told Goal.

"We played with great determination from the first minute to the last. They are not a bad side and played well too but I think that the better side won the game.

"It was a very important win for us because we believe such an outstanding game will at least move us up in the league table as we are not where we are supposed to be yet.

"We've prepared for this game and I'm happy we're able to get a victory even though it was late. Our slogan is to win and we will continue to play to win."

After the win, Enyimba are ninth on the log with 31 points - nine behind table-toppers Lobi Stars, with three games in hand
