Nigeria want World Cup and Afcon tickets - Onazi

Ogenyi Onazi has restated that Nigeria's top priority is to secure tickets for the 2018 Fifa World Cup and 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Onazi led Gernot Rohr's men against Senegal in the absence of Tiajin Teda's John Obi Mikel but was later replaced by John Ogu after his collision with Mame Diouf in the 25th minute.

With the 2019 Afcon qualification set to start in June and as the journey for a place in Russia continues in August, the 24-year-old assured Nigerians of the team's focus and determination to qualify for both tournaments.

Nigeria are tied in Group E with South Africa, Libya and the Seychelles in the 2019 Afcon mini-league group and will aim to make up for their absence in this year's edition staged in Gabon.

“I am always delighted anytime I look at the faces of everyone in camp. The determination is real and infectious," Onazi told Nff media.

"It is a young and focused group; we all want to qualify for the Fifa EWorld Cup 2018 and the next Africa Cup of Nations.

“We are happy that the NFF President is here and has spoken very well, and we want to assure Nigerians that we will keep up the momentum in the World Cup qualifying race and at the same time go all out for the Cup of Nations ticket.”
