There will never be a goalscoring midfielder like Frank Lampard - Noble

The West Ham captain thanked the Chelsea legend ahead of his side's clash with the league leaders at the London Stadium

Mark Noble does not expect to see another goalscoring midfielder in the same mould as former Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

Ruthless Chelsea are the anti-Arsenal

Ex-England international Lampard retired from football a month ago after ending his illustrious career in the MLS with New York City FC.

He had previously established himself as a Chelsea legend after becoming their all-time leading scorer with 211 goals following his £11million move from West Ham in 2001.

And, prior to Chelsea's 2-1 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday night, Hammers captain Noble paid tribute in his club's matchday programme to Lampard, who personally helped him on his journey to becoming a footballer.

"I would like to pay tribute to Frank Lampard who retired a month or so ago," he wrote. "He has done everything in the game and won nigh-on everything, and I don’t think there will be another goalscoring midfielder like him.

"Frank gave us some tough afternoons and evenings when he scored against us, but he has done some things for me personally down the years which I will never forget and I wish him a very happy retirement and success in whatever he does next."
