Sources: Besiktas bid for Cyle Larin rejected by Orlando City

Dom Dwyer's arrival to Orlando City might have led some to think the Lions are in a rush to sell Canadian star forward Cyle Larin, but that isn't the case.

Orlando City has rejected a transfer bid for Larin from Turkish club Besiktas, sources tell Goal . The offer is believed to have been nowhere close to the valuation placed on Larin by the Major League Soccer club.

Rumors have been swirling around Besiktas' interest in Larin for months, with Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson believed to have recommended Larin to the club, where Hutchinson has spent the past four seasons.

Besiktas has won back-to-back Turkish league titles and will compete in the UEFA Champions League, but its initial offer for Larin was — as one Goal source put it — nowhere close to enough. As of Thursday there were no transfer discussions taking place between the clubs since Orlando City rejected the initial offer.

Larin, 22, came into the season drawing considerable transfer interest, but a recent DUI arrest threatened to put a damper on his market value, though sources tell Goal that Larin's recent arrest hasn't kept new offers from coming in for the UConn product.

Orlando City is in no hurry to move Larin, who has two more option years left on his current contract after the 2017 season. The Lions are planning to play Larin and Dwyer together, and are still on the market for even more attacking help to try and make a serious push for the club's first playoff berth.
