Genk secured their 13th win in 29 outings but dropped one place down from seventh to eight spot on the log standings, three points adrift of a Championship round spot whilst Brugge remain at the summit despite defeat.
The Tanzanian skipper grabbed his fist within the opening five minutes and netted his second three minutes before half-time.
For his opener, Samatta teamed up with Alejandro Pozuelo who played him through before calmly placing the ball besides the on rushing goalkeeper from an acute angle.
The duo would later combine again, but this time Pozuoelo played the ball behind the defense for Samatta to chase and duplicate his ealier effort from a similar angle.
Jose Izquierdo pulled one back immediate for the table toppers but Genk held on for the three-point.
The strikes were the former TP Mazembe’s man ninth and tenth strike of the season as he reached double figures for the first time in only his second season in Europe.
The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals in 44 appearances – in all competitions across Europe – so far this campaign, whilst he’s assisted five times.
