Preko praises players for sticking to tactics against ABS

FC IfeanyiUbah head coach, Yaw Preko says he is delighted that his players stuck to the game plan and secure another important victory against ABS in Ilorin which draws them closer to their Federation Cup title defence.

The Anambra Warriors led 3-0 after the first leg of the quarter final affair in Nnewi but they ensured they remained unbeaten since last year after they pipped ABS 1-0 through the goal of Patrick Ikeokwu in the 74th minute of the encounter.

Preko in a chat hinted that he told his players not to leave anything to chance despite their advantage at the end of the initial tie and that he was pleased that they reciprocated his admonition with an away win.

“I told my players that they should not expect an easy tie in Ilorin despite scoring three goals before our fans. I challenged them to look beyond the return leg and start thinking of the next stage of the competition. We have a good chance to defence this title and we are going to do everything to achieve that,” Preko told Goal.

“It was a vintage performance by us and now that our semi finalists have emerged, we will be prepared for them. We know that no team is to be taken for granted and we shall prepare for Niger Tornadoes as if we are playing the final game.

“We will start preparation for the semi final on Monday because we do not want to take chances at all,” he explained.

FC Ifeanyiubah are seeking to successfully defend the title they won last year at the expense of Nasarawa United whom they defeated on penalties.
