Peter Utaka strike saves FC Tokyo from defeat

Peter Utaka rescued FC Tokyo from defeat with a second half goal that secured a 1-1 draw against Albirex Niigata on Sunday.

The Nigeria international cancelled Thiago Galhardo 12th minute goal for Albirex Niigata in the first half, to increase his tally to five goals in 13 games this season.

After the restart, Utaka ensured the Ajinomoto Stadium outfit avoided defeat with a 66th minute effort on goal courtesy Takuji Yonemoto’s assist.

The 33-year-old forward was later substituted for Japanese forward Ryoichi Maeda in the 79th minute.

FC Tokyo remain in the 11th spot in the 18 teams J1 League table with 26 points from 19 games and will Kawasaki Frontale for their next league game on August 5.
