Mohamed Diame scores in Newcastle United’s draw with Crystal Palace

Mohamed Diame registered his name on the scoresheet in Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in Sunday’s English Premier League outing.

The Senegal international opened the scoring in the 22 minutes from Ayoze Perez’s assist which marked his second goal of the season.

In the 55thh minute, Christian Benteke was pulled down in the penalty area by Ciaran Clark and Luka Milivojevic slotted in from the spot to level proceedings for Palace.

Diame was replaced in the 65th minute by Isaac Hayden while Ghana international, Christian Atsu came in for Kenedy in the 57th minute.

Cote d'Ivoire's Wilfried Zaha was on parade from start to finish for Roy Hodgson’s men while Senegal international, Pape Souare was an unused substitute in the tie.

Newcastle are two places above the relegation water after gathering 25 points from 26 encounters.

They will be hoping to return to winning ways when they slug it out with Manchester United in their next league game on February 11.
