Melbourne City confirm the signing of Dario Vidosic

Melbourne City have confirmed the signing of Socceroos attacker Dario Vidosic until the end of the 2018-19 season.

The 30-year-old left Wellington Phoenix last week after his father Rado was sacked as an assistant coach.

Vidosic had scored four goals for the NZ-based club in 10 appearances this season before his departure.

City will be Vidosic's fifth A-League club having had stints at Brisbane Roar, Adelaide United, Western Sydney Wanderers and the Phoenix.

Coach Warren Joyce was delighted to seize on the opportunity of Vidosic's availability.

"Dario is a player who will bring a wealth of experience at this level to our front third," Joyce said.

"He has represented the Socceroos over 20 times and played at a high level overseas and we are excited to have him join our squad here in Melbourne."

Joyce will be hoping Vidosic can form a potent partnership with current City attackers Ross McCormack and Bruce Kamau, and fans will be salivating over the combination he could form with star strker Bruno Fornaroli upon the Uruguayan's injury return next year.

Vidosic is likely to be available for selection in Melbourne City's New Year's Day trip to the Wanderers.
