The 26-year-old Ivorian came off the bench to open the scoring with his second strike of the campaign for Gijon, whom he joined on loan from CSKA during the January transfer window.
Traore opened the scoring four minutes after coming on, tapping in from close range in the 60th minute before Carlos Carmona and Jean-Sylvain Babin secured the three points with the second and third strikes for the Rojiblancos.
Despite the win, Gijon are still nestled in the Liga relegation zone, although they have managed to open a two-point gap between them and Granada.
The former Everton man could’ve netted a brace but missed an 82nd-minute penalty.
Traore has now scored twice for Javier Fernandez’s men which take his tally for the season to eight goals in all competitions this season.
He scored five of those while still in Russia and he has since found the net on two occasions for Gijon, but will be hoping that his form in Spain can prompt an international recall for the Elephants.
