Kane has drive and ambition to be the best - Parker

Harry Kane’s key to success is his unbelievable belief, according to his former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Scott Parker.

Kane made his Spurs debut in August 2011, just a week before the club signed Parker, and the striker subsequently built up his experience during loan spells at Millwall, Norwich and Leicester.

He eventually enjoyed his breakthrough season with Spurs in 2014-2015 and he has established himself as one of the leading No.9s in world football, reportedly coveted by Real Madrid.

Parker has been impressed by the England internationals’ development and told Goal: “Obviously, he has unbelievable belief. He is a very humble boy, who understands what he needs to become a professional and World Class footballer.

“Kane has the drive and ambition to be the best, and always works hard. I'm 100 per cent convinced that is the reason (for his success).”

Kane has scored over 20 goals in each of the last three Premier League seasons and already netted eight times in the current one.

Parker, who now works as Spurs’ Under-18 coach, has also been taken by the progress of midfielder Harry Winks, saying: "I also think Harry Winks has a bright future.”

England’s youth teams have enjoyed a stellar 2017, winning the U17 and U20 World Cups, along with the U19 European Championship, leading Parker to hope they will get their chance in the Premier League.

He said: “The evidence is here. Sometimes people say there are not many English talents, but I don't agree with that.

“England has some of the best talents in the world right now - the only question is to get them into the first team.

“England’s U17 and U20 have fantastic young players. We just need to find a way to change the rules or regulations to get these boys into the first team.”
