Godwin Obaje not giving up on Super Eagles recall

Ifeanyi Ubah forward Godwin Obaje insists he is not losing hopes of earning a recall to the country's senior national team.

The Anambra Warriors man was handed his first call-up in 2016 after winning the top scorer award last season with 19 goals at Wikki Tourists.

Despite being overlooked for the camping in France, Obaje, who has scored six goals this term vows not relent on his scoring form with hopes of securing a Super Eagles recall.

“I'm happy with my performance this season with Ifeanyi Ubah," Obaje told Goal.

"For me, it is not about contesting for top scorer, but my team winning games and making progress. We have not done badly in the first round but we hope to fight for all points in the second round.

"Personally, it is my dream to play for the Super Eagles. That's the dream of every player. My last experience last year against Zambia was great.

"I can't forget even though I did get the chance to play but it was an amazing feeling for me.

“I want to remain focus on helping my team this season and score more goals to ensure we reach our targets.

"I really don't count goals until the end of the season. By God's grace, I will focus on scoring more and possibly get a call-up to the national team.

"I'm not losing hope either getting a call-up to the CHAN team or the main team. The opportunity is very rare and would be a great achievement for me."
