Fidelis Ilechukwu explains MFM FC home loss to Abia Warriors

MFM FC head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has explained why they were subdued for the first time at home this season after their 1-0 loss to Abia Warriors at Agege Stadium on Sunday.

Before the encounter, the Olukoya Boys narrowly lost 1-0 at Yobe Desert Stars during the week and were hopeful of bouncing back against the Uchendu Warriors, but ended up seeing the worse.

Ndifreke Effiong's superb finish past helpless goalkeeper Isaac Jerry in the 54th minute that condemned the hosts to their first league defeat of the season at home - fourth in five consecutive games.

Despite their latest setback at the hands of Emmanuel Deutsch's side, Ilechukwu described the outcome as disappointing but insists there is nothing to worry about.

"There is no problem but that is just football!," Ilechukwu told media.

"We had a lot of lapses and it was very disappointing but at the same time, it was just football. That's definitely what we planned for but we must accept the rest and move on.

"For our next games, we can't fight anybody but we must keep working hard in other to do better and get our desired results."

On his decision to start Chukwuka Onuwa from the bench, he said: "Onuwa (Chukwuka) was not fit because he has played a lot of games this season and I felt he was tired.

"We had to keep him on the bench because he wasn't fit. Assuming we had scored in the first half, we won't have featured him."

The defeat saw MFM FC dropped to 13th on the standings with 27 points from 21 games this season.
