EXTRA TIME: Emmanuel Adebayor celebrates Togo independence

Istanbul Basaksehir forward Emmanuel Adebayor  joined Togo to celebrate her 57th Independence Day anniversary on Thursday.

The former Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid forward who has scored 30 goals in 75 appearances for the Sparrow Hawks felicitated with his countrymen on the event which commemorates their liberation from France.

The west African nation was declared a protectorate in 1884 by the Germans but was granted freedom by the French on April 27, 1960 to become a member of the United Nations council.

Adebayor fired blanks in the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon earlier this year as Claude Le Roy's men bowed out in the group stages following their successive defeats to Morocco and Democratic Republic of Congo.
