Chelsea target Candreva will stay at Inter, says agent

Chelsea have been dealt a blow as reported target Antonio Candreva's agent has declared the midfielder is set to stay with Inter.

Blues manager Antonio Conte worked with Candreva during his time in charge of Italy, and was reportedly keen to add the 30-year-old to his current side.

The Italy international joined Inter last summer from Lazio, scoring six goals and adding 10 assists in his debut Serie A campaign with the Nerazzurri.

But, speaking to Rai, Candreva's agent Federico Pastorello declared his client is set to remain at the San Siro.

"Candreva believes that he will stay," Pastorello said.

"His desire is to continue at Inter and the club and [Inter manager Luciano] Spalletti have said the same.

"So I believe this season he will remain at Inter, but in January Chelsea wanted him."

Candreva played the full match as Inter defeated Fiorentina 3-0 on Saturday in their Serie A opener.
