He has gone on to make over 100 Bundesliga appearances for the club, but has now decided to make the move to France and signed a four-year contract with Marseille.

The 29-year-old won a league, cup and Champions League treble during his time at Bayern, adding a DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup to his trophy collection while at Wolfsburg.

Gustavo becomes Marseille's third signing of the summer, with Florian Thauvin having completed a permanent switch from Newcastle United and Valere Germain arriving from Monaco.

Rudi Garcia's side finished fifth in Ligue 1 in the 2016-17 campaign but will be hoping to be closer to the likes of Monaco, Nice and PSG in the upcoming season.
