Benjamin Turba warns Plateau United not to underrate Kwara United

Plateau United striker, Benjamin Turba has warned his teammates not to underrate Kwara United as they face them on Thursday in a rescheduled league tie.

Turba was with the Peace Boys team that drew 1-1 with Heartland on Monday and he reminded his colleagues that the energy the dissipated in getting the decent result in Owerri will become a waste if they are unable to beat the Harmony Boys.

“The game in Owerri was very difficult and we are grateful to God that we were able to get a draw under such hostile environment,” Turba told Goal.

“We can take that into the next game with Kwara United and try to grab the maximum points. We can’t afford to underrate any team now including Kwara United because the league is getting hotter and every team wants to do well.

“Our effort against Heartland won’t be justified if we are unable to take the maximum points from the game with Kwara United. They are doing well with a new manager but I pray they have an off day against us.”

Turba reckons that the draw they got against Heartland which was their fourth away point of the season could help revive their fading league title defense.

“We started the season very well with an away win against Nasarawa United but after then distractions here and there have made us go down but I am sure that the draw we got against Heartland can help us push for the defense of the league title we won last year,” he continued.

“We know that there are so many teams in the title race as we speak but we rely on our experience that gave us the title last season to help us out again this season.”

The league reigning champions are 11th in the league table with 22 points from 14 matches.
