Celtic's Craig Gordon was subject of a bid from the Blues, but the Scottish champions had no intention of selling their first choice goalkeeper, despite his desire to make the move to west London.

Conte regards Begovic as a very good goalkeeper, but he aimed to find a replacement for him after open and amicable talks between the two. Meanwhile, Begovic admitted that he is "desperate to play" in an interview after he helped Chelsea to a 4-0 win over Brentford in the FA Cup

The 29-year-old did add that he will continue to be a positive influence around the club as he continues to play back up to the Blues' in-form No.1 Thibaut Courtois.

Begovic may look to move again in the summer while Celtic have opened negotiations with Gordon over a new contract.
