Arabian Gulf League champions Al Jazira sign Brazilian Romarinho

Al Jazira have continued their impressive transfer business by signing Brazilian forward Romarinho.

The 26-year-old joins the Arabian Gulf League champions from now defunct Qatar Stars League outfit El Jaish.

Following a four-year stint in Qatar, Romarinho arrives at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium as a free agent, making him their fourth foreign player signed this summer.

The Abu Dhabi club's foreign player quota has been filled after already signing Lassana Diarra and Sardor Rashidov while retaining Mbark Boussoufa.

Romarinho has been brought in to replace compatriot Leonardo who has been deemed surplus to requirements after six months of his two-and-a-half-year contract since moving from Asian Champions League winners, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

He scored 40 QSL goals in 72 appearances since joining from Brazilian side Corinthians in September 2014.

The club have also recently roped in UAE national team top scorer and Al Ahli striker Ahmed Khalil.

Meanwhile Henk ten Cate, the Dutch manager who led them to the President’s Cup title last year and league silverware in 2016/17 during his 18-month spell at the club, has been handed another one-year extension.
