But now Vincenzo Montella's men have revealed the transfer is done, in what is the latest in a long list of high-profile deals completed by the San Siro club this summer.

Juventus sign Milan's De Sciglio

Speaking to Milan's official website, manager Montella said: “He is a player with international experience. Technically, I think that he and Sergio Ramos are the strongest central defenders in the world.

“Coaching him is a dream come true.”

Bonucci joins Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie, Hakan Calhanoglu and Fabio Borini in securing a switch to big-spending Milan so far this summer.

The 18-time Serie A champions have also signed Andre Silva, Andrea Conti, Antonio Donnarumma - brother of first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi - and Lucas Biglia ahead of the new season.

Milan are hoping to end Juventus' dominance in Italy with Massimiliano Allegri's men having won the league for the last six years, as well as the last three Coppa Italia trophies.
