Abubakar Bala impressed with Kwara United’s form after Kogi United win

Kwara United head coach Abubakar Bala is happy with his players’ form following a 1-0 victory over Nigeria National League side Kogi United in Ilorin on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Sanni Rabiu’s 56th minute header gave the hosts a win at the Kwara Stadium and the Harmony Warriors gaffer lauded the tough opposition offered by the visitors.

“It was a slim victory we got from this game but I am satisfied with the performance of my players,” Bala told  Goal.

“Kogi United is a team I’ve known for a while and was aware of the kind of opposition they will give us. It was a tough game we had and am not surprised about it. They really gave us a lot of problems but we showed character to win.

“I must commend the Kogi boys because they gave a good test and were a competitive opponent for us. They were a good side with quality players and deserve to be in the Professional League.

“We have taken some lessons from this match and hope to build on them as we get prepared for the league resumption. We have a lot of areas to improve on but I am happy with my players’ form and hope they maintain it.”
