Nigeria Player of the Week: Imoh Ezekiel of Standard Liege

The 19-year-old stunned Genk's home supporters by scoring straight from the kick off for his first goal of the season

0-2 Standard Liege

The 19-year old scored his first goal and it was a memorable one as it became the fastest goal scored in Europe at the weekend.

The style of the goal will also be remembered as being unorthodox. The former 36 Lions player had already scored in the Europa League but his first goal meant all the difference between Standard maintaining their unbeaten start to the season and getting a point from a strong Genk side, who pushed them all the way.

For helping Standard secure their third win in a row, the accolade is deeply merited. Ezekiel scored 16 goals last season and will be hoping to do better in the new season. He has contributed one assist and one goal in his last two games.

Congratulations to Imoh Ezekiel,'s Nigeria Player of the Week winner!

The Shortlist

Kingsley Eduwo - 3SC

When the Ibadan lords needed respite and a hero, it was to a green-horn that they turned to.

Eduwo scored two goals for under pressure 3SC to merit this mention and to achieve that feat behind closed doors merits another point.

Also Eduwo is a new recruit from Gateway FC and only signed for the Ibadan-side in the last transfer window.

Vincent Enyeama  - Lille

A first start and a clean sheet for the Super Eagles number one in Lille’s colours.

After going on-loan last season, the new 2013/14 season is a watershed as the goalie aims to prove doubters wrong that he cannot do the business in one of the A-leagues in Europe.

Bishop Onyeudo - Enyimba

He scored the two goals, which enabled Enyimba to beat Nembe City 2-0 at Aba. It was his 10th and 11th league goals of the season just behind Dele Olorundare of Sunshine Stars who has 12 goals.
