Nigeria top scorer Emmanuel Emenike has expressed happiness at returning to South Africa where he used to play before moving to Europe as he helped the Super Eagles earn a final ticket against Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Emenike who has scored four goals so far was named man of the match in Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat of Mali in the semi final in Durban.
“It’s a very good thing for me and I’m really happy about the performance. It’s all by the grace of God,” Emenike told the media afterwards.
The Spartak Moscow forward said it was great to return to the country where he used to play for Mpumalanga Black Aces and FC Cape Town before he moved to Turkey.
Nigeria will now play Burkina Faso in the final on Sunday. Emenike scored against the Stallions in their first match in Mbombela that ended 1-1. He will be relishing a return battle.
“It doesn’t matter who we meet in the final, all we have to do is go out there and work very hard to get the cup,” he said.
