Goal.com caught up with one of Africa's football legends Nwankwo Kanu, and spoke with him about the Nigerian squad in Rustenburg, South AfricaNigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu has exclusively told Goal.com that he is impressed with what coach Stephen Keshi has brought to the national team.
Kanu believes that Nigeria is once again displaying the type of football that made them one of the powerhouses of African football over the previous decade.
“The Nigerian culture is back and credit must go to Stephen Keshi for bringing it back. Maybe it is because he is a local coach, and he understands our football culture,” said Kanu.
The former Arsenal player is confident that Nigeria will walk away with the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations trophy, now that they have knocked out Ivory Coast from the tournament.
“I have faith in these boys and I think they are going to do exactly what the class of ’94 did,” he said.
“Now that Nigeria beat the number one ranked team in the continent, I think we are on the right path of writing another history,” said Kanu, who also played for Portsmouth in England.
